The West wants to make Ukraine a "second Afghanistan"! Can it be done?

Since Russia launched its military campaign, the Performance of the West can be summed up as "one cry, two troubles and three hangings":

A cry is to cry for Ukraine, rendering Ukraine a "tragic hero";

The second trouble is all kinds of sanctions, the economic and political sanctions at the national level are not counted, and there are various fields such as entertainment, sports, science and technology, etc., even cats, cats, dogs and dogs are not spared;

Three hangings, of course, is not the West itself hanging, but to send ukrainians to hang, send funds and weapons and equipment, let them go to death, deplete Russia's strength.

It is clear that the West wants to make Ukraine a "second Afghanistan."

On March 2, local time, the Russian Ministry of Defense disclosed for the first time the casualty data of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. According to Russian releases, more than 2,870 Ukrainian militants were killed, about 3,700 wounded, and another 572 captured; on the Russian side, 498 soldiers were killed and 1,597 were wounded; in addition, the Russian army also announced that it had destroyed more than 1,500 Ukrainian military installations since the launch of special operations.

In contrast, the information disclosed by the Russian army is relatively true and credible, after all, according to the results announced by the Ukrainian army, those who do not know think that they have counterattacked the city of Moscow. On March 2, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced control of the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, which became the first major Ukrainian city occupied by the Russian army after the outbreak of the conflict, and the Russian army also controlled tokmark and Vasilivka under the jurisdiction of zaporozhye oblast in the southwest.

Judging from the preliminary judgment of network information, the Russian army has surrounded a number of heavy military groups of the Ukrainian army in Donbass, Kharkov and other places, and it is likely that it is ready to fight a war of annihilation with the purpose of "annihilating the living forces of the Ukrainian army"; once the armed forces are eliminated, for the Ukrainian government, it is basically equivalent to losing the bargaining chip.

For the West, especially Washington, of course, does not want to see Ukraine abandon resistance so soon; in order to encourage more Ukrainians to fill this flesh-and-blood hole, many Western countries have "made exceptions" to provide weapons and equipment to Ukraine.

Finland, for example, as a permanently neutral country, has broken its long-standing principles; Sweden and Germany, which also have a tradition of not supplying weapons to belligerents, have made an "exception" this time; the European Union has even decided to finance its own procurement of arms for Ukraine. On Saturday, Washington announced $350 million in new aid, with the cumulative amount of arms aid to Ukraine already exceeding $1 billion; the European Union will contribute 450 million euros, with member states also contributing separately.

Among these weapons and equipment, the most common are various anti-tank weapons, including "Javelin" anti-tank missiles, various anti-tank bazookas, etc.; followed by man-portable anti-aircraft missiles, as well as various guns and ammunition. Seriously, when fighting the new crown epidemic, I have not seen such "eight-way support" in the West, and it is hard to provide arms when fighting, if there is half of the momentum used to fight the epidemic, the epidemic in the West will not be so bad.

But is such assistance useful? Will Ukraine really become a "second Afghanistan"? Military experts generally said that "the role is extremely limited", may cause a lot of trouble to the Russian army in local battles, but Russia's determination to take this military action is very firm, many troops do not care about harassment and losses when interspersed; not to mention that after the previous blows, the Ukrainian army is very short of heavy equipment, and it is difficult to reverse the situation on the battlefield by relying on light weapons alone, especially in front of the Russian army with heavy firepower.

When it comes to heavy weapons, western aid is very hesitant. It was previously reported that Poland, Bulgaria and Slovakia would provide 70 fighter jets and airfields, but all three countries denied it; since heavy equipment could lead to an expansion of the scale of the war, the West obviously did not dare to try in this regard.

In addition, the Russian army seems to be unwilling to maintain a long-term presence in Ukraine, and the goal proposed by Moscow is "de-militarization" and "de-Nazismization", rather than the purpose of occupying Ukraine, which means that the focus of the Russian army is likely to stay on the "annihilation of the living forces of the Ukrainian army", fight a war of annihilation, and withdraw immediately after achieving the strategic goal (killing the Ukrainian army and making the Ukrainian government promise not to join NATO).

If Russia comes and goes decisively, it should be able to avoid the quagmire of "protracted war"; and after Ukraine has been beaten like this, the dream of joining NATO will probably only be more out of reach!
