BMW invests $200 million in a U.S. plant and the new stamping plant is operational in 2024

BMW officially said that the group will invest 200 million US dollars in the South Carolina plant in the United States, which will build a new stamping workshop, provide more than 200 new jobs, and put it into use in the summer of 2024.

The new 219,000-square-foot press shop will cut raw steel coils into blanks and stamp sheet metal for BMW's X-Series models, including doors, bodywork and suspension components. The new technology equipment is supplied by supplier Schuller, which strengthens the production capacity of BMW's U.S. plant, and currently has 45 employees training at BMW's plants in Germany and the Uk.

Since 1992, the BMW Group has invested nearly $12 billion in its U.S. plants, currently with a daily production capacity of 1,500 units, a total production of 433,810 units in 2021, and more than 11,000 employees. In the future, the new BMW XM model will also be produced here.
