Ma Ta Fei Yan, whose real name is "Eastern Han Copper Galloping Horse", also known as "Ma Chao Dragon Sparrow", "Lingyun Running Horse", etc., is a bronze vessel of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the bronze horse is 34.5 cm high, 45 cm long, 13 cm wide, weighs 7.15 kg, and is very well preserved. Looking at its movements, I saw that the horse had a high head, as if it was hissing, and the mane on the top of its head and the ponytail behind it flew backwards in unison, its torso was very strong, but its limbs were extremely slender, and its legs and hooves were light, presumably its running speed was quite fast. But that's not the point! You look closely at its only horse's hoof that lands on the ground—there's a little bird underneath, and it's looking up in horror, as if wondering who stepped on its head.
People were amazed to see this: This horse was so fast that it took off into the air, and even caught up with the birds in the sky! At that time, after Guo Moruo saw Ma Tafeiyan, he directly applauded and said: "It has both the momentum of galloping and the principle of mechanical balance, and it is undoubtedly a rare treasure." In 1973, the Eastern Han Bronze Galloping Horse was sent to the United Kingdom and France for exhibition, which won unanimous praise from foreigners; in 1983, it became a symbol of Chinese tourism; in 2002, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage included it in the "Catalogue of The First Batch of Cultural Relics Prohibited from Going Abroad (Border)" and designated it as the treasure of the Gansu Provincial Museum; in 2013, China issued a personalized stamp "Ma Ta Fei Yan", which is its fifth time in the mail.
