Technology empowers museums to be both smart and warm

The city's first "one network unified management" digital museum project, the Shanghai Municipal History Museum Digital Twin System, has been upgraded to version 2.0, making the museum both smart and warmer through scientific and technological empowerment.

Digital transformation is a major trend in the development of museums at present, and it is also an important measure for museums to integrate into social and cultural development. In September last year, Shanghai's first digital twin museum system was launched at the Shanghai Municipal History Museum, designing and constructing seven major sections and 14 digital scenes based on the management needs of the museum and the visitors' visiting needs. The system breaks through the digital mode of traditional exhibits on the Internet and "cloud" exhibition viewing, and comprehensively empowers venue management through artificial intelligence and big data means, improves the service level of the audience, and raises the digital governance of the museum to a higher energy level.

On the basis of version 1.0, the digital twin system of Shanghai Municipal History Museum was upgraded to version 2.0 this year, and the core construction concept is "People's Museum Built by the People, People's Museum for the People", through the use of good and live digital means, not only show the thick side of history, but also present its flexible side, so that the museum shows the temperature of human nature.

Technology empowers museums to be both smart and warm

"Compared with the previous version 1.0, version 2.0 places more emphasis on the service and experience facing the audience." Zhou Qunhua, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal History Museum, introduced that version 2.0 specially developed an application mini program, which provides two business scenarios according to the user's location: not in the museum and in the museum. Users who are not in the museum scene can visit the cloud exhibition online to view information such as recent exhibitions and transportation routes around the museum. After logging in online, users in the museum scene can enter the cultural relics tour page to understand the distribution of cultural relics on each floor, view the heat of the passenger flow in each exhibition area online, avoid crowded personnel, and reduce safety hazards. At the same time, you can also use the mini program to enjoy the audio commentary service, and quickly find the location of the entrance, emergency exit and toilet.

As a geographical museum that comprehensively reflects shanghai's local history, the Shanghai Municipal History Museum has a story from exhibits to architecture. According to Wang Bin, director of system research and development, on the basis of version 1.0, version 2.0 has upgraded related functions such as fire protection, settlement, data security, etc., and intelligently cared for the old building, making this nearly century-old building enduring and creating a safe and comfortable visiting environment for the audience.

In addition, version 2.0 also intelligently monitors energy consumption, supervises the use of water and electricity, and the removal of garbage. If visitors choose the "Public Transportation Travel" option when leaving a message, there will be a special message skin to encourage and advocate green travel. Industry insiders pointed out that the theme of this year's International Museum Day is "The Power of Museums", which is to contribute to the power of museums to achieve the goal of double carbon with practical actions.

"Museums are inseparable from digitalization, plug in the wings of science and technology, and it will fly higher and farther." Hu Jiang, director of the Shanghai Municipal History Museum, said that on the basis of enhancing the audience's sense of experience, the museum will also use scientific and technological means to directly participate in the construction of the museum in the future, and integrate the concept of meta-universe into the digitization of the museum, so as to protect the historical context of Shanghai in a more accurate, convenient and personalized way.
