On March 23, at the Global 6G Technology Conference, Liu Guangyi, chief expert of China Mobile, said that based on the lessons learned in the development of 5G networks and the convergence trend of ICDTs, 6G networks should have six important characteristics: on-demand services, simple networks, flexible networks, smart endogenous, security endogenous and digital twins, driven by new services, new scenarios and new needs.

Liu Guangyi pointed out that the current 6G network evolution has three major driving forces, one is the integration trend of ICDT, in the 5G era, cloud computing, AI, big data has begun to integrate with the network, accelerating the digital transformation of society; the second is new services, new scenarios and new needs, from the perspective of the development direction of business and application, the integration of communication and computing, big data, AI, and security will be the new direction of 6G network development; the third is the lessons learned in the development process of 5G networks, such as the high energy consumption and high cost challenges faced by 5G networks As well as the expansion of network scale, the complexity of network operation and maintenance brought about by the coexistence of 5G, 4G and 2G has increased.

Combined with the above thinking, Liu Guangyi believes that 6G networks need to have several basic characteristics, one is on-demand services, the second is a simplified network, the third is a flexible network, the fourth is a smart endogenous, the fifth is a security endogenous, and the sixth is a digital twin.

Liu Guangyi said that the realization of flexible networks requires the introduction of end-to-end servitization concepts in 6G networks, and further expand the scope of 6G network servitization, further servitization of the access network and core network user surfaces, and improve the flexibility and agility of the network; the integration of communication and computing will become an important capability of the 6G network, which can achieve cloud-network integration, with advantages such as data security, delay reduction, transmission saving, and ability openness; in terms of wisdom and endogenous, after the integration of communication and AI, AI will become a new capability and new service of 6G, providing internal and external services, and giving algorithms, computing power and data supply according to demand; in terms of security endogenous, in the 6G era, in the face of security boundaries blurring, security uncertainty, air, space, sea and other security issues, 6G networks need to achieve active and passive combination of security defense through ai and big data drive innovation, thereby bringing better security effects.

In addition, 6G networks should learn from the lessons of 5G and carry out continuous network status prediction and automatic optimization based on digital twins, so as to achieve the effect of "treating diseases before they occur" and "0" maintenance, enabling a high degree of autonomy of the network.

Liu Guangyi said that the traditional mobile communication network is designed around the communication surface, mainly to provide communication capabilities, and the real realization of communication and big data, AI, computing, security integration, is bound to need to introduce communication surface, data surface, computing surface, intelligent surface, security surface in the subsequent network system, the big data, AI and other innovative capabilities to better provide users with services.

Therefore, for the main architecture of the future 6G network, Liu Guangyi described it this way, the bottom layer is the traditional physical resources, including base stations, towers and other resources, the middle is the functional layer of the network, to achieve software and hardware decoupling, the upper layer of the orchestration management, the use of digital twins to achieve automated operations, improve the adaptability of 6G network to new scenarios, new services, new requirements and other differentiated issues, better expand future business needs.
