Under Haituo Mountain, on the banks of the Yushui River, the wonderful memories left by the 2019 Beijing World Garden Fair are still in front of you. Today, the World Garden Park International Pavilion will become the Yanqing Winter Paralympic Awards Plaza.
The World Garden Park International Pavilion covers a total area of 12,000 square meters, with an actual use area of about 17,000 square meters, and is the only non-competitive venue that only undertakes the task of winter Paralympic Games. In accordance with the requirements of "simple, safe and wonderful", Yanqing Winter Paralympic Awards Plaza has added a variety of temporary facilities in different forms such as containers, tents, board rooms, and broadcast platforms on the basis of existing buildings.
The roof of the International Pavilion is composed of 94 snowflakes, and the large-format glass curtain wall is crystal clear, like a palace composed of snowflakes and ice crystals. The dazzling "Snow Crystal Palace" and the "Snow Flying Swallow" in the departure area of the Haituo Mountain Summit Alpine Ski Center echo each other during the day, and at night, the lights shine against each other.
Lai Huiwu, executive deputy general manager of Beijing World Garden Investment and Development Co., Ltd. and deputy director of the territorial relations of the operation team of Yanqing Winter Paralympic Awards Plaza, introduced that every snowflake in the roof of the international pavilion integrates many green technologies such as rainwater collection, photovoltaic, lighting, and shading, reflecting the concept of green development, frugality in running the Olympic Games and sustainable use after the Games.
As the main awarding venue for snow sports at the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games, the Yanqing Winter Paralympic Awards Plaza will run for a total of 7 days (March 6-12, 2022) and undertake medal awarding ceremonies for 27 competitions in the Yanqing Division of the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games, including awarding medals to the winning athletes, raising the national flag (flag) of the country (region) to which the winning athlete belongs, and playing the national anthem (anthem) of the champion's country (region).
