Where has the change been? Google Pixel7 and 7Pro renderings leaked

Google has traditionally released its flagship Pixel phone every October, and we don't expect that to change in 2022. While we still have 8 months to go, a trusted leaker has already shown a rendering of the legitimate appearance of the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

Those who want Google to abandon the design language of the Pixel 6 will be disappointed. The rendering below, courtesy of leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka @OnLeaks) and dedicated automotive website CARHP, showcases the vanilla-flavored Google Pixel 7 in a rendering based on leaked CAD files.

There is no other way to say. The Google Pixel 7 looks a lot like the Pixel 6. It seems to have a large, flat display with minimal bezels and a front-facing punch-hole camera. CARHP said the phone measures 155.6 x 73.1 x 8.7-11.44 mm, which is slightly shorter, narrower and thinner than last year's phone. However, the source also said that the Screen Size of the Pixel 7 will be "between 6.2 inches and 6.4 inches." The Screen Size of the Pixel 6 is 6.4 inches.

Google seems to have retained the dual-camera setup on the regular model, although the physical layout of the camera sensor looks slightly different from the Pixel 6. There's no news about the camera's specs yet, but we wouldn't be surprised if Google kept the Pixel 6's 50MP main camera + 12MP wide-angle camera settings.

In other ways, the Pixel 7 seems to retain the power and volume buttons on the right and the USB-C interface on the bottom. Traditionally, the Pixel 7 may not have a headphone jack.

On Wednesday, @OnLeaks also partnered with retail site Smartprix to disclose renderings of the Pixel 7 Pro. Spoiler Warning: They look just like the Pixel 6 Pro.

Just like last year's flagship, the Pixel 7 Pro appears to have a larger display with slightly curved edges and a front-facing punch camera. Smartprix said the display will reach 6.7 to 6.8 inches, which is in line with the 6.7-inch display of the 6 Pro.

The dimensions are also similar. Leaked information showed that the phone measures 163 x 76.6 x 8.7 mm, which is slightly smaller than the Pixel 6 Pro. But don't get me wrong, the Pixel 7 Pro will still be a big phone. We found that the 6 Pro was slightly bulky due to its overall size and the position of the power and volume buttons. This may not change on this year's model.

As is the case with the Pixel 7, the 7 Pro appears to have three rear camera sensors. Again, these sensors are arranged slightly differently, but the large camera bar remains. There is currently no news about the camera specifications. For reference, the 6 Pro has a 50MP main lens + 12MP wide-angle lens + 48MP telephoto lens.

Future Pixel smartphones may also retain the familiar camera bar. Trusted phone leaker @MaxWeinbach recently said that Google has adopted a camera bar larger than necessary on the Pixel 6 series, so it can leave room for updates and potentially more camera hardware without the need to redesign or reshape the size of the camera bar.

I would like to point out that it is quite early to see leaked smartphone renderings during product development. However, as you can see from these renderings, Google hasn't reinvented the wheel (uh--smartphone), so it's not an exaggeration to think that the company already has an almost fixed design. That being said, waiting for these phones to hit shelves is also too long. The consumer-ready version of these phones may be slightly different from what you see here.
