Years later, I drove to Gaotan Town, Huidong County, to do business, and only then did I know that this place was originally an old revolutionary area, known as "Guangdong's Jinggang Mountain". It is said that Peng Pan built a peasant association in this area, built a family army, and pioneered rent and interest reduction. During the period of the agrarian revolutionary war, the district-level Soviet power was established, and more than 2,000 people sacrificed their lives for the revolution, more than 400 households were exterminated, and countless unnamed heroes and martyrs were counted.
I stood in front of the Martyrs' Monument, and when I saw this set of numbers, my mood could not be calmed for a long time. Next, I heard the story of three heroic mothers and was even more shocked.

Hero Mother Chen Er
In Damao Village, Gaotan Town, there is a mother named Chen Er, whose son is zhang Niangxian, who works as a secretary in the township farmers' association. One day, Zhang Niang first took her mother and Zhong San's aunt from the same village to deliver a letter to Haifeng from Zhongdong in the name of going to the village to ask for food. Unexpectedly, he was discovered by the enemy on the way. A vigilante group recognized Zhang Niang as a peasant association cadre and threatened and seduced him to reveal the Red Army and the common people hiding in the mountains. Under the torture of Zhang Niangxian, she would rather die than yield. The enemy became angry and cruelly cut off Zhang Niangxian's head in front of Chen Er and Zhong San's aunt, wrapped it in Chen Er's clothes, and escorted it all the way to Gaotanwei. In order to intimidate the masses, the enemy forced Chen Er to embrace his son's head, shouting along the way, "I am a bandit, I killed my own son!" Chen Er was full of grief and indignation, his lips were bitten by his teeth and bloodied, but he didn't make a sound.
Heroic mother Wu sister-in-law
In the spring of 1982, in order to escape the heavy encirclement and suppression of The Kuomintang reactionaries in Zhongdong Gaotan, the local villager Wu Sister-in-law, holding her son who was less than three years old, hid in the Swallow Cave with ten villagers and the wounded and Red Guards of the Red Army. The enemy searched along the mountain road, approached the Swallow Cave, fired guns at the mouth of the cave, and shouted. The young son in Wu's arms was frightened and cried loudly. Sister-in-law Wu was afraid that the cry would attract the enemy, so she quickly covered her son's mouth with her hands. The enemy withdrew after tossing and turning outside the cave. Sister-in-law Wu hurriedly released her hand and found that her son's face was dark blue and he had no breath.
Heroic mother Jiang Bing sister-in-law
On October 7, 1930, a traitor led a vigilante group to the village to search for the families of Communists and Soviet government workers. Zhong Jiqing, the wife of Zhu Yuanping, then the third chairman of the Gaotan District Soviet Government, was recuperating from her injuries at the home of villager Jiang Bing's sister-in-law. Jiang Bing's sister-in-law was in a hurry, and asked Zhong Jiqing to pretend to be his daughter to work in the field, and also asked his son Zhu Tangui to run into the mountains to lure away the enemy. As a result, Zhu Tangui was captured by the vigilante group and taken to Haifeng and killed. Jiang Bing's sister-in-law turned grief into strength, and sent another son to the battlefield to kill the enemy heroically, and finally died honorably.
Women, by nature, are weak. These three mothers of faith did not hesitate to give up their own flesh and blood to accomplish the revolutionary cause, and how powerful they were in their hearts was unimaginable to ordinary people.
