BYD officially announced that this year's sales target will exceed one million units!

According to the news on February 23, BYD recently announced its electric vehicle sales target for 2022, saying that it will reach sales of 1.1-1.2 million vehicles this year.

By the end of 2021, BYD has sold more than 1.5 million electric vehicles, in addition to more than 85,000 commercial vehicles. Therefore, in the plan announced this time, BYD also mentioned that it will achieve a cumulative sales target of 3 million vehicles by the end of this year, which means that it must sell 1.4 million to 1.5 million electric vehicles (including passenger cars and commercial vehicles) in 2022.

In 2021, BYD sold about 603783 electric vehicles (including 593745 passenger cars and 10,038 commercial vehicles) throughout the year. In other words, BYD's target sales this year will almost double, so it is difficult to achieve this goal.

By contrast, BYD's rival Tesla delivered 936172 cars throughout the year last year, all of them all electric. Foreign media expect Tesla's sales in 2022 to exceed 1.5 million vehicles, and the cumulative sales will be close to 4 million, so the gap between the two is still relatively large.

So, why does BYD dare to shout such a slogan? How will this be achieved?

More than 90,000 units sold in January A number of new models will be announced soon

If BYD were to sell 1.5 million units in 2022, it would average about 125,000 units per month. In January this year, BYD has reached the result of 93,000 units per month, becoming the sales champion of China's electric vehicle market in January, so from this point of view, 125,000 units per month is not out of reach.

BYD's electric vehicle fleet has been very numerous, and more new models will be launched this year.

A few days ago, BYD's Dynasty series model Yuan PLUS has just been launched, and this model positioned as an A-class pure electric SUV is priced between 131,800 and 159,800 yuan, which has great potential to become a blockbuster car.

It is reported that since the 2022 New Year's Day pre-sale, the domestic order volume of yuan PLUS has exceeded 20,000 units, and at the same time, as BYD's first "strategic sea" global passenger car, yuan PLUS has opened pre-sale in the Australian market synchronously, named ATTO3.

New cars such as the BYD Marine series models seals and cruisers that have attracted a lot of attention have also been exposed, so THIS year's BYD model lineup will be further expanded.

Among this year's goals, BYD has also placed its globalization strategy in a more important position. IT is expected that in 2022, BYD will continue to expand its business in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, South America and other places.

In addition, BYD also mentioned in the annual plan to shorten the delivery time, as well as the launch of a new high-end brand and so on.

Second, benchmark Tesla Model 3 BYD to come up with a new car SEAL

For the high-end brand, many people in the industry speculate that it is likely to be a new pure electric car called Seal.

Previously, a foreign media reporter Greg Kable shared a group of unofficial renderings of BYD seals and said that the seal is likely to be launched as a new high-end brand.

According to the effect drawings of BYD seals, this new car is somewhat similar to BYD Han, and even has some shadows of Weilai ET5.

In January this year, some netizens exposed spy photos of BYD seals, which were said to be the prototype cars of seals. At that time, some netizens commented that the seals would be equipped with frameless doors and an all-glass roof.

According to speculation, Seal will also use BYD's e-platform 3.0, which means that the car is likely to be equipped with BYD's 800V lithium iron phosphate blade battery. In addition, some media predict that the SEAL's NEDC range may be as high as 700 kilometers.

Of course, there is no way to confirm more information about this car, but the only certainty is that if BYD wants to achieve millions of units in 2022 and catch up with Tesla's goal, then BYD is in great need of a blockbuster model that can compete with Tesla Model 3. As for whether it is a seal or not, we will wait and see.

Conclusion: BYD will consolidate its position in the electric vehicle market

LAST YEAR, BYD's electric vehicle sales have been good, and the annual sales have reached the level of 600,000. Although there is still a big gap between last year's sales performance and Tesla, the current leader in the global electric vehicle market, at the beginning of this year, BYD occupied the top spot with more than 90,000 vehicles per month, an increase of nearly 358.4% year-on-year.

This year, BYD will still focus on the tactics of the car sea, continue to launch more new models, and cover more audiences. If a blockbuster car can appear, then BYD's goal of achieving annual sales of one million units is still very promising.

With the continuous expansion of the customer base, BYD is also consolidating its position in the electric market.
