According to the data, the first global smartphone shipment in 2021 is the Samsung brand, accounting for 20.1% of the global market. However, although Samsung's share of the world is very high, in the Chinese market, Samsung only occupies 0.6% of the share. Coincidentally, another industry, the automotive industry, has also shown the weakness of Korean companies in the Chinese market.
In a recent report, it was mentioned that the Sino-South Korean joint venture Beijing Hyundai's automobile factory in Chongqing may have been suspended, and the shutdown time is not short. If this is true news, then this is already the second of the five large factories in Beijing Hyundai to clean up production capacity, which shows that Beijing Hyundai has overcapacity, and may have reached the point where it is necessary to clean up production capacity. Before that, the first factory in Beijing's Shunyi area had been sold to Ideal Auto by Beijing Hyundai. Overcapacity reflects not only a dilemma of Beijing Hyundai, but also a big problem for Korean cars in the Chinese market.
In January 2022, sales of Korean cars in China also plummeted in China's auto market, accounting for only 1.7% of the market. Compared with previous years, the share of shares has dropped significantly, which indicates that Korean car companies have overcapacity, such as Beijing Hyundai once had the production capacity of 5 automobile factories, the first factory has about 300,000 production capacity, even if the production capacity brought by this factory is removed, the other four factories have a production capacity of about 1.35 million vehicles, but from the perspective of beijing Hyundai's total car sales in 2021, With a total sales volume of 385,000 vehicles, the capacity utilization rate of automobiles is not more than one-third according to such sales, and such an imbalance between supply and demand will undoubtedly bring great pressure to Beijing Hyundai.
In 2013, Beijing Hyundai's sales exceeded one million units for the first time, and then maintained high sales, and Beijing Hyundai ushered in its peak in 2016, with sales reaching 1.14 million. However, from the peak to the present, Beijing Hyundai's sales have fallen sharply for several consecutive years, and by 2021, the cumulative sales volume of the whole year will only be 385,000 vehicles, down nearly two-thirds from the peak.
At the same time, another Sino-Korean joint venture, Dongfeng Yueda Kia, is also in decline in 2017, and Dongfeng Motor recently withdrew from Dongfeng Yueda Kia.
According to the data, from 2016 to 2021, the share of Korean cars in the Chinese market was 7.35%, 4.63%, 4.98%, 4.7%, 3.8% and 2.5%. So how much share do you think Korean cars can account for in the Chinese market next?
