Zhitong Finance APP learned that for Tesla, the leader of the electric vehicle industry, the future may face more severe competitive challenges. In a recent morning consult survey, the majority of U.S. adults (51 percent) said they were highly likely to buy a pure electric car over the next decade, while millennials tended to consider electric vehicles when changing cars (70 percent). It can be seen that the new wave of electric models is mainly driven by traditional automakers, many of whom are entering the electric vehicle market for the first time. Along with this process, there will be more and more electric vehicle models. The Electric Power Research Institute predicts that by 2024, there will be more than 130 evictionable electric vehicle models on the market.
Truck buyers have been waiting to buy electric trucks, while traditional brands such as Ford, Chevrolet and General Motors are ready to be delivered, including the recently released Chevrolet Silverado EV, which comes on the heels of the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T electric pickups. GM is also in the midst of a tight exit from its first Hummer electric vehicle ,Hummer EV, which is expected to reach 1,000 horsepower. In general, pickups and SUVs typically lead to higher profit margins for automakers, so these two categories will not miss the next wave of electric vehicles.
