BMW said the plant is mainly responsible for producing VARIOUS SUV models from BMW X3 to X7. The vehicles were eventually sold to 120 different countries, with the exception of some of which were shipped by rail to Canada, most of which were sold around the world primarily through the Port of Charleston, South Carolina. Of all the destinations, China is undoubtedly the country with the largest number of recipients, accounting for 24.1% of the plant's 2021 exports, followed by Germany at 12.3%, South Korea at 9.4%, Canada at 5.6% and the UK at 5.4%.

In addition to being used for export, the cars produced at the plant are also an important source for BMW's U.S. market. It produced 179,840 vehicles for the U.S. market last year, accounting for more than 53 percent of BMW's sales in the U.S. BMW's plant in Spartanburg, which opened in 1993, currently employs more than 11,000 people and has a maximum annual production capacity of 450,000 units.
