In response to this, WEILAI officials made an urgent statement saying: deregistered a sub-branch that has not actually operated, which has no impact on WEILAI's own business.

So what is the background of the "Weilai Automobile Technology Co., Ltd." that Weilai deregistered this time? That goes back to May 2019, when NIO signed a framework agreement with Beijing Yizhuang International Investment and Development Co., Ltd.
According to the agreement, NIO will set up a new entity "NIO China" in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone and inject specific business and assets into NIO China, and Yizhuang SDIC will invest 10 billion yuan in "NIO China" to obtain the interests of non-controlling shareholders holding "NIO China".
However, nearly a year after signing the framework agreement with Yizhuang SDIC, the cooperation project between the two sides has not made substantial progress, and some media reports have said that a Yizhuang SDIC insider said: "We are not investing."
Although there was no progress in international cooperation with Yizhuang, in February 2020, NIO reached a major cooperation with Hefei, and NIO's China headquarters finally settled in Hefei.
