On December 15, 2021, "Spending Money and Carving Techniques" was approved by the People's Government of Jilin Province as the fifth batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage representative projects in Jilin Province, becoming the third provincial intangible cultural heritage project in Panshi City. Spending money originated from the Han Dynasty, in the early use of the main Chinese folk self-amusement of a kind of play money, this kind of coin is not circulating money, Chinese folk this money is commonly known as "spending money". Although "spending money" has the form of a coin, it is not used for circulation and is a "non-genuine product" in coins.

Spending money casting and engraving technology is through the selection of materials, design patterns, hot melting, cooling, pounding to create size, carving, polishing, polishing, refining and other processes, the gold, silver, copper and other materials cast into the spending style. Its core part is to skillfully combine the skills of shoveling, digging, nailing, and cutting according to the design intention, and complete the casting of money with skillful techniques from shallow to deep, from thick to fine.

Chen Yang, the inheritor of the art of spending money casting and engraving, was born in Panshi City in 1983, and when he was a child, he had a strong interest in the project, coupled with his love for ancient coin collection, he began to learn the art of spending money carving at the age of 14, and after intensive study and diligent practice, he finally mastered the exquisite skill of spending money to cast and engrave. He is currently a director of Jilin Provincial Arts and Crafts Association.
