Astrophotography: IC342: Occult galaxies in the constellation Leopard

IC342 is similar in size to the large, bright spiral galaxy near us, located in the northern sky of the giraffe constellation, The Ceratophyllus, just 10 million light-years away. IC342 is a vast island universe, but it is hidden from clear vision, and we can only "glimpse" it through the veil of stars, gas, and dust clouds on the Disk of the Milky Way, otherwise it will be a very conspicuous galaxy in our night sky. Although IC342's light dimmed and turned red due to the intervention of the cosmic cloud, this clear telescope image reveals light-shielding dust, young clusters of stars, and glowing pink star-forming regions distributed along the spiral arm far from the galactic core. IC342 may have recently experienced an explosion of star-forming activity, and it is close enough to influence the evolution of the local galaxy group and the Milky Way under gravity.
