Painter Li Jingheng

○ Ge Chao

Li Jingheng, a painter, lived in the middle of the South Mountain, reading, painting, writing, and was not famous.

His association with Jingheng dates back about nineteen years, when he had just returned to Xianyang from Beijing and opened a gallery on Zhongshan Street. My friend Liang Jin asked me to go with me, and as soon as I entered the door, I was attracted by a very loose small character book written in the newspaper behind the door, and I read it for a long time. At the moment, I thought: Isn't this person a natural artist? At the time, he wore a white T-shirt, jeans, long hair, clear eyes, heroic, and cool.

Later, due to the serious illness of his old mother, he closed the gallery to take care of his mother, and returned to siqun Village at the foot of Zhouzhi Mountain with his wife. In recent years, in addition to taking care of parents and daughters in the countryside, they have read, written and painted. Open the door to see nanshan, smell the birds when you look at the window, and live a miserable but leisurely life of seclusion. I used to be surprised that as early as the 1990s, he had eaten art in Beijing and was very comfortable, but he could still live in the mountains and countryside for more than ten years and enjoy himself? Never want to package, become famous, make money, have money is like that, no money is still like that.

I often felt that he was not like a painter, but more like a practitioner. He never thought of selling and liking when he painted, did not move his pen for ten and a half days when he did not feel it, and when he felt it, he forgot to eat and sleep for a week, and stopped when he was happy, only caring about his own feelings and experiences. It is possible that a few strokes have been put in place, and it is too much to add another stroke; it is also possible that it will not be finished in January, and a thousand strokes will still feel that it is too little. Good at winning more with less, close-up pen pen to bone, from the beginning to the end of the turn of a meticulous, the middle scene repeatedly baked like a light and thick, the long view is often replaced by a large blank space, at first it seems unreasonable, but coupled with the fall of the empty space is also endless meaning.

Also as a flower and bird, the work is abnormal, no appearance, often dozens of times to dye the square rest. I especially love his plum blossoms, the branches are strong and supportive, the petals are jagged, especially behind the flower head with a very light ink, it seems that there is nothing but he painstakingly operated the place, only in this way does it seem that the plum is more arrogant and cold, often making the viewer a shock.

He likes to paint monk Hongren at the end of the Ming Dynasty, which may be the reason for the matching temperament, his paintings are also "empty" and "cold" abnormal, inappropriate, in the world is impetuous and anxious at the moment, he is "cold" to watch, "against" the trend and willing to eat.

He likes to read Western philosophical and Buddhist books, and his insights are often very accessible. There is not much interaction with people, not because of the noble and the lowly, that is, it is also warm, not much to say, frank and natural.

Later, I gradually learned that his ancestral home was Luoyang, Henan, and out of the Wang family, his parents moved to Zhouzhi in the 1950s and taught until retirement. The old father is over ninety years old and still has a childlike smile, often entertains himself with calligraphy, and often writes old ink to run a natural opportunity. Several of his brothers were highly accomplished in literature and art, and I understood the reason for his cultivation. I think the description of him can be applied to a couplet of Mr. Right Ren:

View it as an art, not always interesting;

In terms of it, there is a lot of ancient style.

At the end of his life, his paintings are even more robust and ethereal, spotless, and I am fascinated by them every time I read them.
