Ramallah, 9 Feb (Xinhua) -- The Central Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) decided on 9 February to terminate the performance of the obligations of the PLO and the Palestinian National Authority in the agreements signed with Israel.

The PLO Central Committee issued a statement after the conclusion of the 31st meeting on the 9th, saying that in view of Israel's insistence on accelerating the confiscation of Palestinian land and continuing to violate the agreements signed by the two sides, the PLO Central Committee decided to terminate the performance of the obligations of the PLO and the Palestinian National Authority in the agreements signed with Israel.

Israel is "trying to obstruct the independence and sovereignty of the Palestinian people on their soil in accordance with resolutions of international legitimacy," the statement said. The PLO Central Committee decided to suspend the recognition of the State of Israel until It recognized the Palestinian State, based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital, and ceased the construction of settlements.

The statement said that the Pakistani side also decided to suspend all forms of security coordination with the Israeli side, and rejected the economic peace projects and confidence-building measures proposed by the Israeli side as an alternative to permanent peace.

The PLO Central Committee began to hold its 31st meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah on the 6th, with a total of 7 political factions attending. This is the first time in nearly four years that the PLO Central Committee has met to discuss the plight of Palestine and its relations with Israel.

The PLO is the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, internationally recognized, and its Central Committee is a monitoring body between the PLO National Committee and the PLO Executive Committee, which oversees the implementation of the NCA resolutions and the PLO's guidelines and policies. When the National Committee is not in session, the Central Committee directs the work of the PLO.
