A Foxconn spokesperson commented at a corporate event earlier today that there would be a "significant improvement" in parts shortages in the first quarter of 2022 and that "overall supply constraints" were expected to ease in the second half of the year. However, Foxconn added that power management chips are still in short supply.

The comment may give hope to the entire tech manufacturing industry, but TSMC warned that chip supply will remain tight throughout 2022. Major suppliers such as Foxconn and TSMC plan to maintain larger inventories in the future to ensure security of supply.

IT Home learned that Nikkei Asia reported earlier this month that Apple, a major customer of Foxconn, is prioritizing the production of the iPhone 13, that iPad buyers have to wait for up to 9 weeks of lead times, and that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are still in short supply worldwide.
