However, after Wei Laiguo "turned right", he lost his target continuously in the first shooting training, making a big red face. In April 1942, Wei Laiguo participated in the first live-fire battle.
The battle to attack Shidao was mainly carried out by the East China Sea Independent Regiment of the Jiaodong Military Region, and the Rongcheng Independent Battalion, where Wei Laiguo belonged, was responsible for blocking the enemy's attack and reinforcement, and along with the reinforcement and cooperation in the battle, the Wenden Independent Battalion and the District Squadron were also blocked and cooperated. In this battle, more than 100 Japanese puppet troops were killed and wounded, 58 captured, 45 long guns and more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition were captured, the Ishishima power plant and warehouse were destroyed, and a large number of medical supplies were seized.
However, Wei Laiguo, who participated in the war for the first time, did not usher in the "opening red", two bullets were fired, and one Japanese army did not hit.

In the spring of 1945, just when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was about to be won, Wei Laiguo, who had been promoted to deputy platoon leader, was selected and transferred to the East China Sea Teaching Brigade, received more than 3 months of shooting training, and Wei Laiguo's potential as a special shooter was stimulated, and after graduation, he was assigned to the 4th Company of the 8th Regiment of the 4th Brigade of the Police as a platoon leader.

During the three years of participating in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Wei Laiguo grew into a veteran of the Eighth Route Army.
However, what really made Wei Laiguo famous in the Shandong Liberated Area was the Langezhuang Blockade Battle in the early days of liberation.
In June 1946, with the enemy's 300,000 troops besieging the Central Plains Military Region with only 60,000 people, the Liberation War broke out in full swing. The Jiaodong battlefield was also the target of the enemy's key attack, and the enemy's 54th Army shouted that it would be able to open the Jiaoji line in only half a month, and then eliminate the troops of Xu Shiyou in Jiaodong.
Of course, Xu Shiyou, who had a hot temper, did not dare to sit still and declare that he was "rebelling," and the 4th Company of the 8th Regiment of the 4th Brigade of the Jiaodong Military Region Police Force was ordered to hold on to Donglangezhuang and block the enemy 2 regiments with american equipment. Wei Laiguo took advantage of a cemetery, almost full of bullets, and took advantage of the opportunity of the enemy's artillery bombardment gap to attack, and quickly brought down more than 40 enemies. Pan Yunting, the squad leader under him, saw that the platoon leader was in good shape, so he recorded the platoon leader's record with great interest with the small stones on the position.
There were 2 companies of enemy troops attacking Wei Laiguo's defensive positions head-on, but under the muzzle of Wei Laiguo's "three or eight big covers" guns, as the enemy was "cut grain" one by one, the offensive formation was completely collapsed. When Wei Laiguo concentrated on biting one of the enemy commanders and finally ended the enemy attack with one shot, Pan Yunting had already piled up a small stone pile in front of him.
By the end of the battle, Wei Hadh had consumed a total of 125 rounds of ammunition, while Pan Yunting had piled up 110 small stones. The other fighters in the whole platoon also achieved very impressive results, killing and wounding more than 160 enemy people. After this battle, the company commander appointed Wei Laiguo as an instructor for the shooting training of the whole company.

In reviews, novels, and dramas, sharpshooters and snipers are among the best.
However, in reality, there is no "invincible sharpshooter" with "hundred shots and hundreds of shots", and the "sharpshooter" is only a relatively high hit rate. Zhang Taofang, a 436-shot gun in Shangganling, hit 214 people with 49 percent; Zou Xixiang hit 203 people with 206 rounds of bullets with a 98 percent chance; the previous 78 bullets killed and injured 39 enemies with a 50 percent hit rate; Wei Laiguo's 110 shots in 125 shots, with an 88 percent hit rate that made many "sharpshooters" look up to him.
In April 1947, the enemy changed the "all-round offensive" to a "key offensive", and 450,000 troops attacked the Shandong Liberated Area.
Chen Yi and Su Yu, who had already joined forces, were determined to launch the Taimeng Campaign, besieging the enemy's 72nd Division in Tai'an with the 10th column of Huaye, and the 1st and 3rd columns were ready to aid the 75th Division of Dawenkou. Wei Laiguo, who had been promoted to commander of the 4th Company, followed the 2nd Battalion of the 9th Column and blocked Hu Chain's reorganized 11th Division at Baima Pass.
According to the arrangement of the 2nd Battalion, 6 companies defended Yuntou Mountain, 4 companies defended Black Mountain and Tiantai Mountain, and 5 companies were reserves. The 2nd Battalion's machine gun company is located in Montenegro and can support Yuntou Mountain and Tiantai Mountain with firepower. Wang Dingguo, deputy company commander of the 4th Company, took 3 platoons at Tiantai Mountain, and Wei Laiguo led 1 and 2 platoons in Montenegro.
This fierce blockade battle lasted for 7 days and 7 nights, and Wei Laiguo and the 4 companies repelled more than 10 onslaughts of the enemy army and successfully completed the task of blocking. More than 20,000 men of the enemy 72nd Division in Tai'an were completely annihilated. According to post-war statistics, the 4th company of Wei Laiguo, who served as a blockade, killed and wounded more than 500 enemy people, and the company commander Wei Laiguo once again showed the style of sharpshooter, killing and wounding 92 enemy people with 140 bullets.

In the blockade battle between Lan Gezhuang and Baima Pass, Wei Laiguo killed and wounded 202 enemy people with 265 rounds of ammunition.
