Over time, more and more people have recognized its value, and it has been translated into more than twenty languages and spread around the world, with a wide range of influences.
Pu Songling, the author of "Liaozhai Zhiyi", is not only recognized as the most accomplished short story in ancient Chinese literature, but also known as the "king of the world's short stories".

Pu Songling (蒲松玲), also spelled Liuxian (留仙), was a resident of Liuquan (柳泉居士), known as Mr. Liaozhai (辽斋先生), and called himself the Yishi clan. In 1640, Pu Songling was born in Pujiazhuang, Zichuan County, Jinan Province (now Pujiazhuang, Hongshan Town, Zichuan District, Zibo City, Shandong Province), his father Pu Yu was knowledgeable and well-known in the township, abandoned Confucianism to do business after the defeat of the imperial examination, and once his family was well-off, and after the Ming and Qing wars, coupled with many children and heavy burdens, the family road declined.
Although his life was not rich, but under the influence of his family, Pu Songling read and studied the scriptures since he was a child, hoping to one day obtain a meritorious name and honor his ancestors. Helplessly, Pu Songling began to participate in the boy test from the age of nineteen, and did not become a gongsheng until the age of seventy-one, and after a few years, he was depressed and finally did not complete his long-cherished wish of "becoming famous in the world".
In order to make a living, for decades, Pu Songling served as a private schoolman and served as a staff member, and the heartache of it can be imagined.

In addition to the obsession with seeking fame, another thing that Pu Songling can never forget is writing and writing, and he did not give up this feeling in his heart and stop the pen in his hand because of the difficulties of life.
When Pu Songling was a child, he liked to listen to the stories of people around him talking about those fox fairy ghosts, and he called himself "happy to talk about ghosts" and "ya love to search for gods". When he was a little older, he recorded the strange things he had heard, and after his polishing and processing, the magical fox fairy ghosts seemed to really exist, hidden in his book, which was later shocking the ancient and modern, well-known "Liaozhai Zhiyi".
Pu Songling used his superhuman imagination to depict a strange world for people in "Liaozhai Zhiyi", where ordinary helpless little people and strange fox fairy ghosts and monsters came alive, in order to expose the brutality of the rulers of feudal society and praise the kindness of the people at the bottom.
In the first month of 1715, Pu Songling "sat in a window and died" in his old house, at the age of seventy-six. After his death, the former residence was inhabited by his descendants until it was destroyed by the Japanese army during the War of Resistance Against Japan.
Pujiazhuang, where Pu Songling's former residence is located, has a glorious revolutionary history; during the Liberation War, the East China Field Army commanded by Chen Yi and Su Yu made short-term repairs here after achieving a major victory in the Battle of Laiwu, which received strong support from the local people and made great contributions to the future victories in the battles of Taimeng and Menglianggu and the cause of national liberation.
Now we see the former residence of Pu Songling was rebuilt on the original site after the founding of New China, the whole building is composed of six small courtyards, seven exhibition rooms, with Liaozhai as the main line, radiating outward, courtyard courtyard, staggered, here has been listed as the national key cultural relics protection unit, provincial patriotic education base, every year people from all over the country and all over the world come here with various moods to visit the hanging.
