At present, there are two forms of recycling of power batteries. Lithium iron phosphate batteries have fewer precious metals, and electric vehicles can still meet the needs of some scenarios after retirement, so lithium iron phosphate batteries tend to be treated in this way.

The other is dismantling and recycling, which refers to the chemical, physical or biological dismantling of used batteries and the recovery of available resources in them. There are more precious metals for ternary batteries, and the current recovery rate is more than 98%. Under the same conditions, the total profit of recycling a single ton of ternary waste batteries is about 6355 yuan / ton, and the loss of recycling a single ton of lithium iron phosphate waste batteries is about 312 yuan / ton. Therefore, ternary batteries will take the lead in the recycling market. According to the calculation of Great Wall Securities, by 2025, the space recovered by ternary batteries will reach 7.741 billion yuan.

At present, in addition to battery manufacturers such as BYD, Ningde Times, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, etc., which have laid out battery recycling, as well as automakers such as Weilai, companies that already have a certain share are Tianqi shares and Grimme. Tianqi co., Ltd. has many years of cooperative relations with traditional automobile brands, new car manufacturers and other vehicle manufacturers, and realized the holding of Jintaige and Lithium Zhi Industry, a high-quality target in the power battery recycling industry chain. Grimme has signed battery recycling agreements with more than 250 vehicle and battery factories around the world, with a production capacity of 35,000 tons of ternary precursors, 12,000 tons of cobalt tetroxide and 10,000 tons of cathode materials.

According to CCID think tank forecast, in 2025, the waste battery capacity that needs to be recycled in the mainland will reach 137.4GWh, and the market size will grow to 20.37 billion yuan, with a compound annual growth rate of about 31%, which will bring huge market opportunities to the power battery recycling market.
