A few days ago, foreign media reported that Tesla is recalling more than 817,000 cars in the United States. The reason for the recall is that the buzzer may not start when the car is started and the seat belt is not fastened.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Thursday that the Model S and Model X produced in 2021-2022, the Model 3 produced in 2017-2022 and the Model Y vehicles produced in 2020-2022 are affected, and Tesla will implement a wireless (OTA) software update to address the issue.
Tesla told NHTSA that as of Jan. 31, it was unclear what crashes or injuries were related to the issue. Tesla said in a filing with NHTSA that the South Korean Institute of Automotive Testing and Research (KATRI) brought the situation to Tesla's attention on Jan. 6.
Tesla said that on the recalled vehicles, software bugs may in some cases prevent the buzzer from starting when the vehicle starts, and the problem is limited to specific situations.
Tesla added that when the vehicle exceeds 22 km / h and the driver's seat belt buckle is not detected, the problem does not affect the activation of the seat belt tone, nor does it affect the accuracy of the visual seat belt reminder.
Just yesterday, we just reported that Tesla could fail due to problems with trunk wiring harnesses that could lead to excessive wear. The recall batch includes some imported Model 3s from October 4, 2018 to November 20, 2019 and some domestically produced Model 3s with production dates from October 14, 2019 to December 27, 2020.
Official information shows that the trunk cover of the vehicle within the scope of this recall may cause excessive wear of the trunk wiring harness after a long period of repeated opening and closing. If this wear causes the core separation of the coaxial cable, it may cause the reversing image to not work properly, thus affecting the driver's field of vision when reversing, and in extreme cases, it will increase the risk of collision when reversing, and there is a safety hazard.
At present, a number of car owners have received Tesla's recall notification SMS, but due to the large number of models involved in the recall, the official did not give a specific recall time, but let the affected owners wait for the service personnel to take the initiative to contact, make an appointment for inspection and repair.
