On February 3, US time, according to the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla is conducting safety recalls on more than 817,000 vehicles due to problems with vehicle seat belt tips.

NHTSA said the reason Tesla recalled the vehicles was that when the cars started and the driver didn't wear seat belts, the seat belt tone might not ring. According to the recall report, the current seatbelt alert problem has not resulted in any known casualties. Tesla will address the issue remotely wirelessly in February.

The recall is the largest in Tesla's history, and includes the Model S/X produced between 2021 and 2022, the Model 3 produced between 2017 and 2022, and the Model Y model produced between 2020 and 2022.

Notably, this is also Tesla's second recall in a week. Not long ago, Tesla recalled 53,822 cars for a problem with the "rolling stop" function system of the FSD (Full Self-Driving) Beta autopilot software.

The "rolling stop" feature allows cars to drive through "all-way stop" intersections where signs show stops in all four directions, at a maximum speed of 5.6 miles (9 kilometers) per hour, without detecting that there are no vehicles, pedestrians, or bicycles nearby. According to the traffic regulations of most states in the United States, vehicles should stop completely when they pass through these intersections.

According to NHTSA, federal law "prohibits manufacturers from selling vehicles with defects that pose an unreasonable risk to safety, including unsafe deliberate design choices."

For these two recalls, Tesla has not yet issued a corresponding situation note.
