Driving an electric car across four provinces for the New Year: from Wuhan to Hainan, it takes 8.5 hours to charge 6 times

"He bought an electric car, but he didn't dare to drive home for the New Year." Every Spring Festival, the anxiety of electric vehicle endurance is a hot topic.

On the first day of the New Year of the Tiger, some people complained in the circle of friends: live broadcast, there are 250 kilometers, but the queue for charging is estimated to take two or three hours. Some people also say: cross-provincial home under the highway charged 3 times, this thing or do not open across the province.

"I recharged 6 times, went through four provinces, and spent an extra 8.5 hours." Mr. Shao's family is in Changsha, because he grew up in Wanning, Hainan, and in the Spring Festival of 2001 and 2002, Mr. Shao's family spent time in Hainan. Three years ago, he bought a domestic electric car, and this year he spent a lot of effort to charge the car when he returned home for the New Year.

The following is Mr. Shao's experience and experience of driving an electric car to Hainan for the New Year.

Before departure, we made a detailed guide to mark the charging piles of various cities along the way

My family is in Changsha, but the headquarters of the unit is in Wuhan, and I have to go back to the headquarters for a meeting a few years ago, in fact, this year I should say that I started from Wuhan. First from Wuhan to Changsha, and then from Changsha to Hainan.

Our family is like this, because my mother has relatives in Wanning, Hainan, when I was young, I also grew up in Wanning, Hainan, and the climate in Hainan in winter is better, so generally in these years, I will take my family to Hainan for the New Year every year.

Electric cars were bought the year before, and last year was the first time to drive electric cars to Hainan. Most electric vehicles actually have similar mileage. I bought a domestic electric car, the target mileage is about 300 kilometers, but the actual endurance is two hundred and sixty-seven, or do not run high-speed situation. If it is running at high speed in winter, its endurance may be around 200 to 220.

When I set off last year, I made a lot of preparations, and it was not complicated to formulate a strategy, because it was the first time to drive an electric car for such a long-distance trip, so I did it very carefully. The first is to determine the route, which route to take, and then these routes will pass along the road through which cities, mark out these cities, each city has about how many charging piles, how much slow charging, how much fast charging, and then how much distance between the city and the city, equivalent to drawing a chart, basically you can compare which route is the best.

After I set off from Changsha last year, I first took the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway to Hengyang, and then to Hengyang and then took the 772, which should be the Quannan Expressway, and after going to Yongzhou, from Yongzhou to Quanzhou County in Guangxi, to Guilin, through Lipu City, Pingnan County, Guiping City, through Yulin, to Zhanjiang in Guangdong. Then from Zhanjiang to Xuwen, from Xuwen's Hai'an Port, the car crosses the sea, takes the ferry to Haikou, and drives from Haikou to Wanning City, which is my route last year.

In terms of time, I set off last year after dinner on the 28th of the Waxing Moon, arrived at Xuwen Hai'an Port in the early morning of the 29th of the Waxing Moon, crossed the sea at 3:00 a.m. to Haikou, and arrived in Wanning City at noon.

Encountered a bad charging pile in the middle of the way, at one point thought of calling a trailer

Last year, if you take this line, in fact, like the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, there are still more charging piles, and there are all service areas. But other highways, especially in this section of Guangxi, basically have no charging piles. So most of the time, it is actually necessary to go down to the high speed to charge, and then recharge and then go to the high speed.

According to the strategy done in advance, the road was smooth, but there were still unexpected situations in Guangxi. In Mengshan County, Guangxi, it was previously found on the map that there was a charging pile, but after arriving in Mengshan County, it was found that the charging pile was broken, and finally there was no way to find the locals for help, and found that there were charging piles in the bus parking lot of Mengshan County. The charging pile is not displayed on the map, and the average person does not know it. The parking lot staff was very helpful, telling me how to operate the charging pile, how to charge the charging pile from their system, and finally it was charged. At first, I was very anxious, and at one point I thought about whether to call a trailer.

There was also a small episode while charging in Mengshan County. Because it is for the bus service, when charging, my car charging power is small, the charging plant administrator may find that the charging power is very low on the computer monitoring, and also run down to see what the situation is.

There are more mountains in Guangxi, like Mengshan County, which is full of mountains, and basically few people buy electric vehicles. The administrator also talked to me later, asking you how far this car can run when charged, how high the cost of charging is, how much it is to convert into a kilometer of fuel, and chat with me for half a day.

Usually when I go a little further, I will bring a 220-volt charging power supply with the car, but this charging efficiency is very slow. Usually my car is charged once, at home with 7.2 kilowatts of charging power, charging to charge five or six hours to fill, if it is fast charging, it may be an hour, if at home with 220 volts charging power supply, it may take a day and a half, that is, 36 to 48 hours to fully charge.

Basically do not charge on the high speed The faster the speed of the car, the faster the power consumption

Last year, I ran that trip, and I felt that charging cars was still inconvenient in small places. However, if it is a larger city, like Guilin, Liuzhou, Nanning in Guangxi, there are more charging piles, or it is more convenient. Usually I am in Wuhan, Hubei, Changsha, Hunan, more open, a lot of charging piles, are still more convenient.

My trip to the Spring Festival last year was actually not the route recommended on the map by this conventional oil truck. The strategy I developed was basically to determine that there were one or more charging stations every 200 kilometers, so that's why I went this way. Last year, I went to Hainan for almost two days, and the time to cross the sea will be a little longer, because there will be queues to cross the sea, and I will have to buy tickets, which will take almost four to five hours.

This year's Spring Festival I want to open a little faster. This year is to take the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway to Guangdong, and then from Guangdong to The Shanzhan Expressway, to Zhanjiang, taking this route is also very coincidental, because last year in the service area of Yueyang, I met an electric vehicle owner.

The main car of this electric vehicle comes with a charging map, you can check the power station, she found that first take the Beijing- Hong Kong-Macao, and then take the Shanzhan Expressway, basically within 100 kilometers along the way, no more than 100 kilometers will have a service area, each service area has a replacement power station. When Yue yang met her, she quickly changed the battery and left, to Haikou in Hainan is only seventeen or eight hours, she turned back to me and told me that this road will be more convenient than going to Guangxi, so I will take this year from Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao to Shanzhan Expressway.

This year, I first went from Wuhan in Hubei to Yueyang in Hunan, through Changsha, Hengyang, Chenzhou, in the past, Shaoguan in Guangdong, then through Qingyuan City, Yunfu City, Maoming City, Zhanjiang City, and then to Xuwen Port.

This year, it only took me less than a day and a half to get to Haikou. However, the special situation this year is that because of the epidemic, the entry of vehicles crossing the sea will be relatively strict. If you are from an epidemic-related area, you need to cross the sea twice in 48 hours.

These days to see a lot of electric vehicle owners blocked on the highway, I think many car owners may be more afraid of trouble, did not search for the charging map, to search the location of the charging pile, in fact, in most of the prefecture-level cities, Hubei to the south, including many counties, charging piles are more, if everyone is charged on the highway, it will cause a queue for a long time, it is not convenient.

In general, if I still have 200 km of range, I will mark several passing points on the highway along the way. If there are many vehicles charging, I basically will not queue up, I will drive directly over, and if I have to, I will queue up on the highway to charge for a while. Otherwise, I would basically choose to go down to the high speed. Under the high-speed charging, there is another advantage, that is, you can walk along the way, or you can eat a meal while charging, which is also convenient.

This year, when I went from Wuhan to Haikou, I was charged 6 times in total, almost every 200 kilometers. Electric vehicles do consume more power at high speed, and if you drive 100 kilometers per hour or 120 kilometers, the faster the speed, the greater its power consumption. So I am on the high speed, the speed is generally controlled at 90 km / h to 100 km/ h, the first is that the time is guaranteed, and the second is to make it consume electricity not so fast. Because the faster you consume power, the charging will also delay the time, and it is not cost-effective.

Charging on high speed doesn't save much money than driving a fuel car

In fact, if the electric car runs on the high speed and charges at the high speed, the cost is not much cheaper than driving a fuel car, because the charging cost on the high speed is at least twice the usual, and most of them are 2.5 times to 3 times. For example, if I charge my own charging pile at home, it may be six cents a kilowatt hour of electricity, like some charging piles in Wuhan or Changsha, when it is cheap, it is only more than fifty cents a kilowatt hour of electricity. However, on the high speed, it is basically one degree of electricity and more than five pieces, although it is divided into time periods, but it is still relatively expensive on the whole.

Regarding the mileage anxiety of the battery, I think it is still no problem as long as the pre-planning is good. Commonly used navigation has a special charging map, each company's charging pile, basically can be included, you can search. Now many charging APPS can display the number of idle charging piles, the number of fast charging piles and the number of charging piles of slow charging can be displayed. In fact, you can easily judge whether this place is suitable for charging. Even this charging pile, it is not far from the high-speed port and the like can be judged, I personally think it is still very convenient.

I personally don't think this charging method is particularly troublesome, but it is definitely more delayed than the fuel truck. For example, if you charge at high speed, even if the charging pile is two or three kilometers away from the high speed, then your next high speed, the last high speed, in fact, the delay time is also half an hour, and then when charging, if you say that it is calculated by one hour to 1.5 hours, you charge a full charge, in fact, the whole time takes 1.5 times to 2 times more time than the usual fuel car.

I opened an electric car because the space for the oil car at home is relatively small, and the electric car space is relatively large, and there will be more luggage. In fact, in Hainan, car rental is also very convenient, if it is not much luggage, there is no need to drive an electric car, you can choose to fly directly over, and then rent a car, it may be more convenient.

The reason why I originally bought an electric car, I myself considered three reasons. The first is that many places have limited license plates and restrictions on fuel vehicles, such as Wuhan, fuel vehicles are single and double number restrictions, and new energy vehicles are not limited. The second reason is that there is already a gas car in the house and I want to buy an electric car. The third reason is that I have test-driven an electric car once, and I feel particularly comfortable to start and accelerate very quickly. Usually take some online car, chat with the driver, all said that the charging price is also cheap, just bought.

Because I usually travel a lot, I have a habit that after going to the service area, I will generally consciously go to see if there is a charging pile in this service area, and the charging pile is good or not. For example, in the Jeonju service area in Guangxi is particularly interesting, this service area charging does not cost money, but it is slow charging, living in the service area for one night and driving away directly the next morning when the electricity is full, it is still very good.

For the Spring Festival, I think if it is in the northern region or cold area, it is still not recommended to drive an electric car. Especially if the temperature is below 0 ° C, the battery life may drop by about half or even more, and you consume a lot of power when you turn on the heat air conditioner. But if it's in the south, I don't think it's too much of a problem. Mainly look at the region, like Guangdong, Hainan, there are more charging piles, it is still more convenient to drive electric vehicles, but if it is like other places, like some small counties in Guangxi, it may not be very convenient to drive electric vehicles.

Whether it's an electric car or a gas car, I'm more concerned about a good ride.
