In March 1941, during the Battle of Matapán, Balham and the British fleet sank three heavy cruisers of the Italian Navy, and on November 25 of the same year, they were hit by three torpedoes fired by the German submarine U-331 in the Mediterranean Sea, and during the sinking, the boiler and ammunition depot exploded, killing 861 people. The martyrdom of the Barham was recorded throughout the video and became a very shocking scene in the history of naval warfare.

Part of the Royal Navy's Queen Elizabeth-class battleships, HMS Balham began construction in February 1913, took part in the Battle of Jutland during World War I, and was modernised in the 1930s with a displacement of 36,300 tons.
