Born in 1959 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Xiao Quan flew in the Naval Aviation Force for four years. In 1991, he published "Bird of Paradise - Sanmao Photography Album", and later published important picture albums such as "Our Generation", "Beautiful Woman under My Lens", "2032: The Future We Expect", etc. In 2019, the international edition of "Our Generation" was published in RLZZOLI, Italy, and the new book was released in Milan in December of the same year, and in New York in January 2020, the book entered the MOMA Bookstore of the Modern Museum of New York; in June 2012, it was filmed in Beijing for the United Nations. 2032: The Future We Expect", the album was collected by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and received the "Outstanding Person Contribution Award" from the United Nations.

Xiao Quan has worked as a photo photographer for Zhang Yimou's film "Shake, Shake" and Yang Liping's film "Sunbird", and has held important solo exhibitions in Switzerland, Myanmar and other countries, as well as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities, including "20 Years of Sanmao", "Heartbeat - Yang Liping", "Portrait of the Times", "Our Generation - A Gift to Mark Lü Bu", etc., and will also hold a solo exhibition at the Private Art Museum in Prague, Czech Republic in November 2020. As the most influential photographer of this era, Xiao Quan used portraits to preserve memories of this era.

In this lecture, Xiao Quan will tell the audience about the series of shootings with the theme of "Portrait of the Times" in recent years, he said, "Photographer August · Sander, who has left many images of ordinary people for an era, wants to preserve the image of the proud Germanic people. His photographs still exude a ray of humanity. I was deeply influenced by him, why not leave a natural and noble image for my compatriots. In 2012, it was filmed for the United Nations project, and more than 200 ordinary people in various industries were photographed in Beijing. At that time, the photos were transmitted in the 170 member states of the United Nations. Ban Ki-moon has a collection of our albums. In 2015, I started taking photos (portraits) of current Chinese in Kunming. I've photographed a dozen cities now. Maybe this year, I will come back to Shenzhen to take pictures for everyone.
