Born in Chengdu, Xiao Quan is known as "China's best portrait photographer." In the past ten years, Xiao Quan has changed from "Our Generation" to "Portrait of Xiao Quan's ▪ Era", and he has gradually shifted his lens from shooting artists to ordinary people, shooting his own portrait for Chinese.
On March 25, 2018, the "Classical Art Masters Forum" held the first lecture of 2018 at the Classic Art Theater, and the keynote speaker was Xiao Quan, a famous Chinese portrait photographer. At the lecture, Xiao Quan shared his photography story and his perception and understanding of photography, and revealed that the upcoming Chengdu Station "Portrait of the Times" project will use the next period of time to photograph 500 ordinary people in Chengdu and record the portraits and memories of Chengdu people today.

In 2012, Xiao Quan, Zhou Xun and Du Jiayi did a public welfare shooting project for the United Nations, "The Future We Look Forward to 2032", which photographed more than 200 ordinary people in Beijing, and these pictures were transmitted to more than 170 UN member states, and Ban Ki-moon, then secretary-general of the United Nations, collected this album. Since 2015, Xiao Quan began to continue this shooting plan and named it "Portrait of the Times", from Kunming, Chongqing to Hangzhou, more than 2,000 portraits of people in 8 cities have been photographed, and the pictures have been widely disseminated by various media, as well as exhibitions and publications.

In 2018, Xiao Quan, as a Chengdu native, once again returned to the place where his photography dream began, with his original intention and former touch, to record the ordinary people in Chengdu who pushed the current life forward. Xiao Quan said, "This is a tribute to Chengdu people and Chengdu life in the context of the whole new era. Chengdu has a long history and story context that can be described, and these are the things you want to grasp. “
"I will have in-depth communication with every Chengdu person involved in this project, understand their daily life, joys and sorrows, and try my best to show their most real and memorable side with the language of the lens, just like those people in "Our Generation", they should be remembered by history." "Portrait of the Times" is Xiao Quan's Chinese in paying attention to the China of this era and the present. He said that he hopes that every shooting can truly record the changes of this era and the state of people. At the lecture site, Xiao Quan revealed that Chengdu is the 9th stop of "Portrait of the Times". As a Chengdu native, coming to his hometown to shoot, Xiao Quan has a completely different emotion and is full of expectations. Xiao Quan introduced that before, he had taken pictures in Chengdu, including designer Wang Hai, Liu Jiakun, writer Jie Chen, and an old farmer selling hemp sugar on Longquan Yishan, etc., all of which were the contents of the "Portrait of the Times" Chengdu Station.
