This year's Spring Festival, the painters of the Shanghai Character Painting Garden welcomed the Beijing Winter Olympics with a special creative activity. Early this morning, Xi Wenyuan, Ye Xiong, Zhu Xinlong, Zhu Xinchang, Xin Bingyong, Sang Linkang, Lu Xiaodi, Shen Jie, Zheng Qinggu, Liu Ling, Lu Yalei, and others came to the studio in southwest Shanghai to continue yesterday's creation of "Passionate Melting Ice and Snow, Danqing Painting the Winter Olympics." On the long painting table, a long scroll of rice paper with a width of 60 centimeters and a length of about 20 meters, the painters have some layouts, some outlines, some splash ink, some fill colors, the scene is lively, and a collective creation of Chinese paintings reflecting the Winter Olympics has begun to emerge. The 91-year-old Wang Guanqing also brought with him the preface of the scroll he wrote for this hand-scroll, "Passion Melts Ice and Snow, Danqing Paints Athletes".

Zhu Xinlong introduced: "The collective creations we usually see are mainly flower and bird paintings, and the painters add them impromptu according to their personal expertise; and the collective creation of figure paintings needs to consider too many things, composition, proportion, perspective, style, all need to be carefully designed, so this work seems to be improvised, in fact, the painstaking efforts behind the flowers are extraordinary." ”
In order to create, the painter made a lot of preparations: first of all, to learn and understand the general situation and competition items of the Winter Olympic Games, to consult various materials of the Winter Olympics, to collect creative materials such as scenes related to the Beijing Winter Olympics and competition costumes and props, and then to determine the creation theme, title and form of creation on this basis. The painters discuss in large groups and small groups in WeChat, and also communicate one-on-one to contribute ideas for creation.
Wang Guanqing, the consultant of the painting garden, is both an advocate and an active participant in this event, and he has put forward many opinions and suggestions and finalized the controversial topics. After collective discussion, it was finally decided to use the form of long-scroll Chinese painting to give full play to the advantages of the figure painting garden painters, and to take the corrective posture of the Winter Olympic athletes in the 15 sub-items as the main performance content.

The Shanghai Character Painting Garden set this on-site collective creation activity on the first and second days of the Chinese New Year, and to this end, everyone adjusted the annual reunion time with family or friends. In the sketching stage, Ye Xiong, who is good at computer painting, took the initiative to undertake the task of the sketch part, working day and night to complete the sketch work in one go. Zhu Xinlong offered to paint with leather paper and dedicated his collection of 5 long rolls of leather paper.
Painters said that Beijing's hosting of the 24th Winter Olympic Games is both a world event and a national event. Art should reflect that life keeps pace with the times, and the Winter Olympics is an important opportunity to show the image of the country, promote national development, and invigorate the national spirit. Reflecting major social events is the unshirkable social responsibility of character painters, who, although they are in the south, can still feel the strong feelings of bathing and snow in the Winter Olympics, and experience the fighting spirit of athletes from all over the world to break the world record and win gold medals.
