Recently, I read the "Alibaba Carbon Neutral Action Report" released by Alibaba and announced its 2030 carbon neutrality goal, which is quite encouraging. However, on closer reading, there are some concerns about how it is calculated. To this end, two suggestions are made for Ali and other large conglomerates interested in carbon neutrality.
The first part mentions the vision that fuel vehicles will be replaced by electric vehicles. "By 2030, replace all own short-haul fuel vehicles with electric vehicles, and once the technology is mature, electric or hydrogen heavy-duty transport vehicles will be introduced as soon as possible." Here, I would like to remind you that we should figure out the carbon emissions caused by the production of fuel vehicles themselves in advance - this must be included in the calculation.
Second, new technologies, new products, electric vehicles, driverless cars, etc. were also included in the report. Then the carbon emissions of the production of electric vehicles and driverless cars must also be included in the calculation. Current similar products have the characteristics of high consumption and frequent upgrading, and we must pay attention to the emissions of the production link.

Now the mention of "technological upgrading" seems to be equated with carbon reduction. Not necessarily. The carbon emissions caused by their accelerated replacement and the disposal of products, as well as the carbon emissions of new product production, are probably a very large number if carefully measured. It should be based on very full consideration in the "upgrading" link, otherwise our overall carbon emissions will probably be a failure.
Similarly, the carbon waste caused by the replacement of new energy, the elimination of traditional energy in power generation and related power supply facilities, carbon emissions, and the carbon emissions of new materials composed of new energy in the production process must enter the calculation of its total carbon emissions.
