Duan Jian is a member of the poverty alleviation team in Nuanhe Village, Xiding Township, Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Since the poverty alleviation in the village in August 2019, he has strictly abided by the discipline of the task force, actively implemented the tasks deployed by the superiors, exerted his strengths, and done practical things for the masses with heart and affection, winning the recognition of the cadres and masses of the whole village.
Nuanhe Village Committee is located in the west of Xiding Township, Menghai County, Yunnan Province, with 341 households and 1362 people in the village, which is one of the key poor villages in Xiding Township. "Dreams must be there, but what if they come true?" This was the idea put forward by Wang Haiquan, the captain of the village when he was first stationed in the village, and since that day, Duan Jian has been determined to bring his "dream" into the depths of the mountains in Nuanhe Village, Xiding Township.
Don't forget the original heart, willing to be the masses "worry about people"
In the work of stationing villages, no matter how big or small things are, Duan Jian will do a solid job in poverty alleviation work. From helping villagers write applications and certificates, caring for children from special families, to persuading students from house to school and sending critically ill poor households to seek medical treatment, he expressed his original intention and determination for poverty alleviation work with practical actions. In August 2019, Duan Jian, who had just arrived at the poverty alleviation point for a few days, found that Luo Ge, a poor household in Guihua village, was seriously ill at home, and the situation was getting worse and worse, and there were children who were about to take the college entrance examination. In order to win the treatment time, Duan Jian went to the county hospital to find a doctor to explain the situation, coordinate the matter of seeking medical treatment as soon as possible, and smoothly took Rogo to the hospital for examination and hospitalization. After 21 days of hospitalization, Rogo's condition improved slightly, and the two children were relieved to return to school. But on October 30, Rogo died due to another deterioration in his condition. After learning of the situation, Comrade Duan Jian took the initiative to go to the school to understand the children's learning and life, talk with the children, coordinate the implementation of relevant policies, and gather multiple forces to ensure that the children can successfully complete their studies.
Since the beginning of the year, due to the continuous drought, the tea garden in Nuanhe Village has been seriously short of water, and some newly grafted tea tree branches have dried up and fallen off, and the survival of tea seedlings has been affected to varying degrees. Duan Jian looked in his eyes and was anxious in his heart. "How to ensure that the grafting of tea seedlings survives the drought" Duan Jian has been thinking about this matter in his heart. While looking up the Internet, he asked local tea experts for advice. After several days of summary, exploration and repeated experimentation, we finally found a "drip water to save tea" method of drip irrigation with plastic bottles. Duan Jian hurriedly found the village cadres and said his idea of "dripping water to save tea", which was unanimously approved by everyone and actively took action. The number of existing empty plastic bottles in the village is too small to use, and Duan Jian and the village cadres spent more than two weeks to buy empty plastic bottles in the streets of Xidingxiang farmers' markets, supermarkets and restaurants. At the same time, Duan Jian also contacted the Mengsha Waste Station to help with the acquisition. After getting the empty bottles, Duan Jian led the villagers to fill them with water and hang them one by one next to the tea seedlings. After everyone's hard work, the state of grafting tea seedlings gradually improved. In order to encourage the villagers, Duan Jian has repeatedly publicized and mobilized, he often said to the villagers: "In order to make the tea seedlings survive the dry season, please be like us, go to the township restaurants and supermarkets to pay for the purchase of empty plastic bottles, don't feel like folding face, the tea seedling funds are not easy to come by, I and the village cadres have adopted the method of drip irrigation and water replenishment, I believe that everyone can do the same." Driven by his demonstration, more villagers began to actively participate in this "self-help and drought resistance" action.
One by one, the real things warmed the hearts of the people in the village, in exchange for the trust of the masses. Duan Jian believes that although he has experienced the rush, he has truly felt that the distance between himself and the masses has narrowed.
Courage to take responsibility, not afraid of the long road "difficult to walk"
In February this year, after receiving the order for the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Duan Jian, who was on vacation, returned to the village overnight to carry out investigation and statistics, prompted the villagers to do a good job of self-prevention and control as required, paid close attention to printing warning slogans and organized village cadres to post them at the gate of the village, the social house and the door of the villagers. At the same time, the village group radio was used to continue to broadcast the relevant notices and requirements for epidemic prevention and control, publicize the relevant policies and epidemic dynamics in the Villagers' WeChat group, organize the villagers to check on outsiders, and resolutely prevent the import of the epidemic. After the epidemic eased, he actively promoted the resumption of production and work in combination with the actual situation of the villagers, provided migrant information for the young labor force, introduced the masses to go out to work, provided the masses with ways to increase income to the greatest extent, and helped the masses lay a solid foundation for getting rich.
Duan Jian said: Since coming to the poverty alleviation point, I have made up my mind to do a good job in the work of poverty alleviation. We must not turn a blind eye to difficulties, still less can we be deterred; we must put the masses in our hearts, think of what the masses think, seek the needs of the masses, and go all out to make ourselves worthy of the title of a member of the poverty alleviation team.
Zhizhi Shuangfu brings dreams into the mountains
"Poverty alleviation before helping aspirations", in the work of stationing villages, Duan Jian kept in mind that "ideological poverty alleviation" should be attached equal importance to "material poverty alleviation", and strengthened publicity around "supporting wisdom and helping aspirations". On the one hand, taking the people and things around the villagers as the starting point, we should strengthen propaganda and guidance; through visiting the villagers in the whole village who are outstanding in controlling dropouts and guaranteeing education, working hard to get rich, and after verifying the situation with the villagers' committee and the villagers in their own villages, we should use the new media on the Internet to widely publicize them, so as to form an exemplary effect, enable the villagers to learn from the example, have a goal, reverse the idea of "waiting to rely on others," and enhance their self-confidence in increasing their income and getting rich. At the same time, taking the opportunity of visiting households in villages and mass meetings, we will vigorously publicize the poverty alleviation policies of the party and the state, explain the benefits brought about by poverty alleviation measures and project implementation, and further stimulate the endogenous motivation of the masses to get rid of poverty and become rich. On the other hand, in view of the problems of low cultural level and low work efficiency of grass-roots party members in the work, we actively coordinate with all parties to provide hardware guarantees for the villagers' committees and build a learning platform. In view of the lack of knowledge of briefing writing and computer application reported by grass-roots party members, training in the use of computer software was organized in the village committee, and the team members stationed in the village took the initiative to take young village cadres and poor college students out for internship, so that village cadres could break the inhibition of thinking, increase their insights, and build a platform for the "journalist dream" of poor college students. Since the beginning of this year, we have organized many times to link village cadres and poor college students to go out for internships and training.
Since he was stationed in the village, Duan Jian has actively exerted his photography expertise, published 30 original news articles on poverty alleviation in various media, and edited and directed 3 short videos on poverty alleviation. In June 2020, the inspirational short film "Dreams are Warm" was viewed more than 1 million times in major national and provincial media, using ethnic voices and videos to record and tell the story of frontline poverty alleviation in border ethnic minority areas, showing the effectiveness of poverty alleviation and condensing the strength to overcome poverty.
Duan Jianchang said that his dream is that every diligent person who gets rid of poverty can reach the other shore of happiness with the support of the party and the state! He brought "dreams" into the mountains, and the ethnic minorities in the depths of the frontier mountains ignited colorful dreams.
