The reporter learned from the Qinghai Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee that the Comparative Edition of Chinese and Tibetan Vocabulary, which was organized by Qinghai Province and translated and compiled over a period of 9 years, was jointly published by the China Tibetology Publishing House and the Commercial Press.

Wu Dejun, director of the Qinghai Provincial People's Religious Committee, said that with the continuous acceleration of the pace of development in Qinghai, the Tibetan masses have an increasingly strong desire to learn and master the common language and writing of the country while inheriting and using their own national language and writing. However, for a long time, authoritative, convenient and practical Bilingual Reference Books in Chinese and Tibetan have been relatively scarce. To this end, the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government launched the translation of the Modern Chinese Dictionary into Chinese-Tibetan bilingual reference books in June 2013.
When the translation team was formed, Qinghai Province identified 15 members from universities, textbook compilation institutions, and ethnic language translation units, based on the 7th edition of the Modern Chinese Dictionary published and distributed by the Commercial Press, focusing on the translation of difficult words, biological terms, scientific and technological terms, idioms, allusions, proverbs, ancient texts, and literature titles. The 70,132 Chinese entries, including polysemantic words, imaginary words, single words, etc., are all completely included, and the Tibetan version is not arbitrarily deleted, and it is easy not to take refuge.

Sanjie, chief expert of the compilation team and professor of Qinghai University for Nationalities, said that the translation aims to achieve the deep integration of Chinese and Tibetan in the modern context, which is authoritative, epochal, complete and practical. The publication and distribution of the Dictionary can alleviate the shortage of Chinese-Tibetan bilingual mutual learning and mutual translation reference books, and enhance ethnic exchanges and integration.
