Zhangzhou, 26 Jan (Xinhua) -- The "Examination System in Taiwan - Taiwan Jinshi Special Exhibition", co-sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Taiwan Compatriots Association, the Fujian Provincial Taiwan Compatriots Association, the Zhangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the Zhangzhou Taiwan Compatriots Association, was held on the morning of the 26th at the Confucian Temple in the ancient city of Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, and the exhibition activities will last until April 25.

The imperial examination system, a system of selecting officials through examinations in ancient China, existed for about 1300 years, and during the Qing Dynasty, a total of 33 jinshi were produced on the island of Taiwan. The "Taiwan Jinshi Special Exhibition" was launched by the Beijing Taiwan Federation and has been exhibited in Chongqing, Fuzhou, Taiwan and other places on the mainland, and has received good response.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Zhangzhou Municipal Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, Zhangzhou is the main source of influence of Taiwan's mainstream culture, Zhangzhou people are the main disseminators of Chinese culture into Taiwan, many of the Taiwanese jinshi have studied in Zhangzhou and participated in the imperial examination experience, according to incomplete statistics, there are 20 Taiwanese students who have registered in Zhangzhou to take the wenju examination. The person in charge said that the exhibition selection in the Zhangzhou Confucian Temple is of unique significance and appropriateness, and it is closely related to the culture of the Imperial Examination, the Study of Zhangzhou Province, and the culture of Zhuzi, which will further enhance the feelings and cultural identity of compatriots on both sides of the strait, and further highlight "the family on both sides of the strait, and the relatives of Zhangtai and Taiwan."

It is understood that the contents of this exhibition include the establishment and development of the imperial examination system in Taiwan, the display of the inscription of the jinshi, the introduction of the well-known Taiwan jinshi, and the far-reaching impact of the imperial examination system on Taiwan society as the main vein of Chinese culture.
