The $200 million, $200 million, "Blade Runner 2049," directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Harrison Ford, will be released in the United States on October 6, 2017.
It is a sequel to the 1982 film Blade Runner (set in 2020) that takes place nearly 30 years after the previous story, in 2049. Los Angeles Cop K, played by Ryan Gosling, the new Blade Runner, discovers a shocking secret that can subvert society, which leads him to search for Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former Blade Runner who has disappeared for 30 years. Blade Runner is arguably one of the most classic cult sci-fi movies in the history of cinema, with a rating of 8.1 on Douban. Fans' voices and expectations for its sequel are very high, so Blade Runner 2049 is a movie that has high hopes and is expected to kill a bloody road this fall.
In order to cooperate with the early publicity of the film, the filmmakers and Johnnie Walker (hereinafter referred to as JW) jointly launched a film-themed blend of whisky, Blade Runner 2049 The Director's Cut (BRTDC).
In fact, Blade Runner in 1982 worked with JW, and JW's Black Label whisky appeared in the film (see picture above, which is also a special limited edition black card launched by JW in cooperation with the filmmakers). Therefore, during the filming of Blade Runner 2049, the director deliberately contacted JW and expressed his intention to cooperate twice, and the two hit it off, and then BRTDC was born.
In order to pay tribute to the previous film, the label of this wine still follows the classic JW black label whisky label, and its overall packaging design is similar to that of black label whisky. Like the special edition whisky custom for Blade Runner in 1982, in order to match the futuristic cult style of the film, the designer once again boldly reconstructed the packaging of black label whisky, adding a lot of futuristic elements to make the packaging look more futuristic and cool.
Although the label and packaging are similar to JW black label whiskies, the recipe of this wine is still very different from it.
BRTDC was hand-built by JW's Chief Blender Jim Beveridge (JB) and uses more than 30 single wheat and grain whiskies. Its alcohol content of 49% ABV is deliberate, which is a tribute to the era in which the story in the film is located.
The wine is darker, more complex and supple than the classic black label whisky, but the smoky taste is getting stronger.
JB (pictured above) said: "I think fans of the Blade Runner series will love this wine, and when I worked with DV, I was inspired, I found that making movies and making whisky are similar, and it requires constant persistence and effort to create the best work for the audience." JW's conciliation business began in 1820 and I am honored to be able to create satisfactory whisky works in the modern era by inheriting and absorbing the experience and legacy of JW's predecessors. At the same time, I also hope that the whiskies I create will still be loved by everyone in 2049."
DV (pictured above) added: "Like all movie fans, I also noticed that JW's black card whisky appeared in the first Blade Runner movie, so I think this should be the basis and advantage for our film to be able to successfully work with JW again." BRTDC will debut in the U.S. in the near future, with a capacity of 750ml and a suggested retail price of $89.99, or about 590 yuan. It will be released in 15 countries and regions in the future, but it will only be sold in a limited edition of 39,000 bottles. JW and Blade Runner fans, hurry up and find a channel to get a bottle!
