August 29, 1938, was a disaster day for the county seat of Hubei Mountain. Early that morning, the Japanese sent 56 aircraft to bomb the area on a massive, covered, three-hour-long basis.
According to the statistics afterwards, this terrible bombing caused more than 2,000 deaths and more than 3,000 injuries, while there were only 5,000 people in Jingshan County at that time, and it can be said that no one was spared, causing economic losses and cultural relics losses, let alone counting.
This also raises a huge question, a single dispatch of 56 aircraft, in the anti-Japanese battlefield in 1938, is unique, and the bombing is still an ordinary mountainous small county, what do the Japanese care about?
The reason for pursuing it: it's just a joke.
After the July 7 Incident, in order to defend Wuhan, the Kuomintang built an airport in the eastern part of Jingshan County, and the county government urgently requisitioned 100 acres of land and mobilized thousands of personnel to start construction. When the Battle of Xuzhou began, the airport was basically completed.
It is precisely because of the construction of the airport that it has attracted the attention of the Japanese army.
After the Battle of Xuzhou, the Japanese sent a large number of spies to the small county of only 5,000 people and began to collect intelligence extensively.
In 1938, Jiang Shaoyi took over the post of county magistrate of Jingshan County, and concurrently served as the commander of the anti-Japanese guerrillas and the chairman of the Anti-Japanese War Support Committee. After many meetings, the people of Jingshan County praised him a lot, and gradually some people stopped calling him "Governor Jiang County" and jokingly called him "Chairman Jiang County.", and this title is not wrong.
However, it is this title that is somewhat similar to Chiang Kai-shek's, and it is precisely this that lays hidden dangers for future bombing.
On August 27, 1938, more than a dozen luxury cars drove into Jinshan County from the outskirts, and it was rumored that these people were all senior officers of the Nationalist government who had retreated from the front, including Bai Chongxi and others, who mysteriously entered the city and never appeared again.
Soon, martial law was also imposed in Jingshan County, and all five city gates were heavily guarded, and in some of the bustling streets of the city, there were also many government officials wearing robes and hats, and even some pearlescent mrs. Kuo, shopping in the streets.
The next day, the county seat of Jingshan county imposed martial law throughout the city, and outsiders were not allowed to enter.
At this time, there was a shouting sound in the city: "The meeting has begun, the meeting has been held, and those who have attended the meeting have hurried to enter and listen to chairman Jiang's words." ”
Through these signs, the Japanese spies in the city believed that Chiang Kai-shek must be in the city, so they quickly reported to their superiors: Chiang Kai-shek arrived in Jingshan and prepared to hold a meeting in the city.
After receiving several copies of such information in a row, the Japanese command was a little confused. At this time, Chiang Kai-shek should sit in Wuhan, command hundreds of thousands of troops, and carry out the Battle of Wuhan. However, Jingshan was less than a hundred miles away from Wuhan, and Chiang Kai-shek was likely to be unable to withstand the wild bombardment of the Japanese army and temporarily set up his headquarters in Jingshan County.
The Japanese command immediately made a decision: let Xuzhou Airport immediately send aircraft to bomb Jingshan County.
The Japanese could not have imagined that it was not Chiang Kai-shek who convened the meeting, but that Chiang Shao-yi was holding an enlarged meeting of county administrations, and that the participants were numerous and had a huge momentum; it just so happened that several senior military officers were making a short stay in Jingshan, and shouting "Chairman Chiang Kai-shek" everywhere on the streets, thus confusing the Japanese spy personnel and bringing a disaster to the people of Jingshan.
According to eyewitness recollections: The people of Jingshan are relatively simple, and when the plane arrived in Jingshan, many residents were still sleeping, and shops on the street had just opened. Many citizens, seeing the plane for the first time, did not know how to avoid it, and even some people stopped to watch with great interest.
Suddenly, dense bombs fell from the sky and exploded one after another, and the whole city was filled with smoke and dust, covering the sky and the sun.
Jiang Shaoyao's family also suffered misfortune, and when the bombing was carried out, he was dealing with the closing of the meeting in the front hall of the county government, and the first bomb of the Japanese army exploded at the front door of the county government. His wife and 10-year-old daughter, who ran out of the dormitory and hid under a rockery, were hit by a shell and killed on the spot.
Wife, the abdomen was blown through, the pain was unbearable, let Jiang Shaoyi make up a shot, a quick death.
Jiang Shaoyao had no choice but to let the guards shoot, but the guards could not bear to do so and refused to carry out, and Jiang Shaoyao grabbed the pistol, with tears in his eyes, and ended his wife's life.
The small mountain town that has been passed down for hundreds of years has become a rubble in the Japanese bombing.
