The Fifth Session of the 12th Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference was held in Nanning from January 16 to 20, 2022.

The meeting was held at a critical period when Guangxi, which is the grandeur of building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, is embarking on a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country and concentrating on building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Liu Ning, secretary of the regional party committee, Lan Tianli, chairman of the autonomous region, and other leading comrades attended the meeting and participated in the joint group discussion. At the meeting, Chairman Sun Dawei made a work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Twelfth Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Vice Chairman Huang Ribo made a report on the work of motions. The meeting held that the work report of the CPPCC Standing Committee and the report on the work of motions are clear in theme, prominent in focus, and concise in content, and the two reports were deliberated and adopted. At the same time, it will deliberate and adopt the 2022 consultation plan of the CPPCC Autonomous Region, deliberate and adopt the report on the review of the proposals of the Fifth Session of the Twelfth CPPCC Autonomous Regional Committee, deliberate and adopt the proposal of "Building a Demonstration Zone of Consciousness of the Chinese National Community", and deliberate and adopt relevant personnel matters.

The meeting held that 2021 is a milestone year in the history of the party and the country, and a year of special importance in the history of Guangxi's reform and development. The CPPCC autonomous region has given full play to the role of special consultative bodies, closely followed the overall situation of the center in performing its duties and fulfilled its responsibilities, stood up to the principle of being upright and innovative, demonstrated its responsibility, made new achievements in various work, and achieved new development in the cause of the CPPCC.

During the meeting, the committee members carefully studied Secretary Liu Ning's speech at the opening meeting, and unanimously agreed that the speech would strengthen its political position, grasp the overall situation, highlight its strategic thinking, implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on "4.27" and the important instructions for Guangxi's work series, highly summarize the remarkable achievements and outstanding highlights made by our region in the past year, and look forward to the beautiful prospects of Prosperity, Unity and Harmony, Openness and Inclusiveness, Civilized Rule of Law, Livable and Healthy Life in Guangxi. The CPPCC members have highly affirmed the work of the CPPCC autonomous region in all aspects of their work, put forward clear requirements for strengthening and improving the work of the CPPCC in our region in the new era, and placed their earnest hopes on it. Secretary Liu Ning's speech at the joint group discussion meeting of the four sectors of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, ethnic minorities, education, and religion stressed the need to forge a solid sense of the Chinese national community as the main line, actively build a demonstration zone for forging a solid sense of the Chinese national community, and strive to break new ground in promoting the high-quality development of border ethnic areas, which pointed out the direction for the next step of the work of the whole region. The work reports of the Autonomous Region High People's Court and the Autonomous Region People's Procuratorate fully embody the work concept of judicial service for the people and impartial justice, and embody the strong responsibility of safeguarding the people's safety and happiness.

The meeting pointed out that 2022 is the year of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the beginning of the comprehensive implementation of the spirit of the 12th Party Congress of the Autonomous Region. The CPPCC Autonomous Regional Committee should hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the 19th Plenary Sessions, closely follow the propaganda and implementation of the 20th CPC National Congress, earnestly unify thoughts and actions with the spirit of the congress, guide the vast number of CPPCC members to bear in mind the "two overall situations", be concerned about the "great power of the country", deeply understand the decisive significance of the "two establishments", enhance the "four consciousnesses", strengthen the "four self-confidences", and achieve "two safeguards".

The meeting stressed that the whole process of people's democracy is a full chain, all-round, and full-coverage socialist democracy, and the special consultative body of the CPPCC is an important institutional arrangement for the development of people's democracy in the whole process. It is necessary to give better play to the role of the CPPCC's important positions, important platforms, and important channels, solidly promote the construction of CONSULTATIVE democracy in the CPPCC, and better transform the advantages of the CPPCC system into governance efficiency.
