North Korea says it will be prepared for a long-term confrontation with the United States or consider restarting "suspended activities"

Beijing, 20 Jan (China News Service) -- Pyongyang News Agency: According to the KCNA, Kim Jong-un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, presided over the sixth Politburo meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on 19 January. The meeting listened to an analysis report on the current situation around the Korean Peninsula and a series of international issues, and stressed the need to make thorough preparations for a protracted confrontation with the United States.

The report quoted the briefing materials of the meeting as pointing out that in recent years after the DPRK-US summit, the United States has "provoked trouble and made rash moves" with the DPRK in its legitimate exercise of sovereignty, such as repeatedly violating its commitments to hold joint military exercises with the ROK, separately taking more than 20 sanctions against the DPRK, deploying nuclear strategic weapons and conducting various strategic weapons tests in the vicinity of the Korean Peninsula, and providing the ROK with sophisticated military attack weapons. All these acts have both desecrated the dignity of the DPRK and seriously threatened its security. The meeting held that the US hostile policy toward the DPRK will continue.

The meeting stressed that in order to maintain a easing of the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the DPRK has made sincere efforts after the DPRK-US summit in Singapore, but the hostile policy and military threats of the United States have reached a dangerous point of intolerability, so the DPRK must be more thoroughly prepared for a long-term confrontation with the United States.

Finally, the meeting redeployed its national defense policy tasks, decided to immediately strengthen and develop more powerful material means to suppress the increasingly fierce hostility of the United States to the DPRK, and issued instructions to relevant departments to fully consider once again the measures that the DPRK took the initiative to take the initiative against the United States in order to build a relationship of trust, and to promptly study the issue of restarting all suspended activities.
