Headline search for 6 years to help reunite 18,000 separated families

  On January 20, 2022, ByteDance's public welfare project "Toutiao Finder" announced that in the past six years, the project has helped reunite more than 18,000 separated families. Including 1445 minors, 9770 adults and 6866 elderly people, the oldest lost person is 101 years old and the youngest is only 3 months old.

  Lu mou is the 17362nd recipient of the headline search project. In early January 2022, 97-year-old Lu Ming and his daughter, who had been separated for more than 70 years, met in Neighboring Water, Sichuan. Born in the 1920s, Lu Ming married and gave birth to a daughter at the age of 18, and due to the war, she traveled to Anhui, Jiangsu, Sichuan and other places. In October 2021, a video released by volunteer searchers helped her find her daughter in Anhui in less than 4 days.

  Li Jingwei is the 17,980th recipient of the Headline Search Project. On New Year's Day 2022, Li Jingwei, a Henan man who had been abducted for 33 years, met his mother in Lankao. On December 15, 2021, with a hand-drawn map of his hometown in his memory, he asked volunteers to post a Douyin video to find relatives. According to the clues, the Lankao police visited Yunnan and determined that Li Jingwei was a native of Zhaotong, Yunnan, and found his mother and siblings.

  Lu Ming and Li Jingwei were both reunited with their families with the help of Gan Biao, a volunteer search for people in Linshui, Sichuan. Gan Biao, a local barbecue shop owner, has posted more than 400 videos of family searches and helped reunite more than 10 separated families. Gan Biao is not alone, as there are more than 5,000 search volunteers like him on today's headlines and Douyin platforms.

  According to the relevant person in charge of the headline search, the project has cooperated with the civil affairs department and local rescue stations, public security departments and local police, news media, public welfare organizations and volunteers across the country, etc., and has continuously improved the success rate and efficiency of the search.

  "Toutiao Search" was initiated by Toutiao in February 2016, the core is based on the geographical location of accurate pop-up window technology to do search information distribution, is committed to using scientific and technological means to help all kinds of separated families reunion. In the past six years, "Toutiao Searching for People" has successively launched public welfare projects such as "Searching for Relatives on Both Sides of the Strait", "Searching for Descendants of Martyrs", "Searching for Old Comrades-in-Arms", "Searching for Roots for Chinese", "Douyin Searching for People", etc., constantly expanding the types of searching for relatives and becoming one of the largest Internet public welfare tracing platforms.
