Jingzhou's higher education resources are relatively developed, and there are many colleges and universities in the urban area. More than twenty years ago, Jingzhou had the idea of building a university city, which was subject to the financial resources at that time, only stayed at the planning level, and was not really implemented.
Previously, the universities in Jingzhou were scattered, and there were many campus settings. For example, Yangtze University is a merger of 4 schools, and when it was first established, there were seven or eight campuses, distributed everywhere in Jingzhou District and Shacheng District. Jingzhou Vocational and Technical College and Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine are also multi-campus patterns.
In recent years, Jingzhou has increased its efforts to build new campuses for colleges and universities. The new campus of Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was built to the south of the city, and the new campus of Jingzhou Vocational and Technical College has also undergone large-scale expansion and become a decent university. The long-awaited phase I of the southward expansion project of the East Campus of Yangtze University has been completed.
After more than ten years of efforts, the universities in Jingzhou have begun to gather in the southern part of the city, and they have taken on a new look, which provides sufficient conditions for Jingzhou to re-plan the university town.
Jingzhou University Town continues to be located in the south area of the city, in addition to the existing Yangtze University, Jingzhou Vocational and Technical College, Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as the new campus of the College of Arts and Sciences of Yangtze University and the Vocational College of Jingzhou Science and Technology will also be laid out here.
The number of universities in the university city will reach 5, and the number of students will exceed 50,000.
In the "4+4+2+1" project of University Town, two more projects were launched at the same time
2022 is the beginning of the construction of the university city, focusing on the construction of a core area of 5.2 square kilometers and promoting the "4+4+2+1" project, that is, collecting and storing 4 plots, optimizing 4 roads, building 2 schools, and building 1 central park.
At present, the new campus of the College of Arts and Sciences of Yangtze University in the university city has entered the stage of land demolition and campus design. At the beginning of 2022, two more projects in the university city launched survey and design at the same time.
Yingdu Road
1. University Town Central Park. The project is located between Yingdu East Road and Zhongxin East Road, and is bordered by Jingjiang Avenue in the south. The construction land area is 100,400 square meters (equivalent to 150 acres). The main construction content is greening, paving garden roads, landscape sketches, wisdom halls, public toilets, etc., with a construction area of 1200 square meters.
2. Qujiang Road (West Ring Road to Nanhu Road). The total length of the road is about 5.5 kilometers, the red line is 20 meters (10 meters of green belt is reserved on both sides), the road grade is an urban branch road, and the total investment is 668 million.
What are the significance of these two projects for the University Town and the Seongnam Precinct?
University Town Central Park, located on Yingdu Road, which is equivalent to the central axis of University Town, is why it is called Central Park. On the east side of Yingdu Road are Jingzhou Vocational and Technical College and Yangtze River University, as well as the new campus of the College of Arts and Sciences of Yangtze River University, which will be built soon; on the west side, there is Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the new campus of Jingzhou Polytechnic Vocational College to be built.
Jingjiang Avenue, new campus section of Yangtze University
At present, there is no large-scale park in the south of the city, and the construction of the central park of the university town can not only improve the urban quality of the south area, but also provide a place for leisure and entertainment for students and residents in the university city.
Not to mention Qujiang Road, the most critical thing in any area is the smooth flow of the road. The connection between the southern part of the city and the central urban area mainly relies on Xueyuan Road, and with the construction of Jingjiang Avenue, the horizontal external main passage has been basically constituted.
Qujiang Road is a branch road that runs through the university town, which is very important for the internal connection of the university town. The status quo of Qujiang Road is basically at the level of rural roads, although it was planned to start renovation last year, but it has not been able to start construction.
Although the newly planned Qujiang Road is not wide, the red line is only 20 meters, which belongs to the branch road level. However, a 10-meter-wide green belt has been reserved, and a landscape avenue for university town will be built.
2022 will be the peak of the construction of the university city, and these projects will be launched one after another. It is believed that after several years of efforts, the entire southern area of the city will have a great improvement, which is conducive to improving the taste of the city and expanding the urban skeleton.
