On January 18, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the december 2021 domestic mobile phone market operation analysis report. The report shows that in December 2021, the domestic market mobile phone shipments of 33.401 million units, an increase of 25.6% year-on-year, of which 5G mobile phones 27.145 million units, an increase of 49.2% year-on-year, accounting for 81.3% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.
In the whole year of 2021, the overall shipment of mobile phones in the domestic market totaled 351 million units, an increase of 13.9% year-on-year, of which 5G mobile phone shipments were 266 million units, an increase of 63.5% year-on-year, accounting for 75.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.
According to the data previously released by the Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the proportion of 5G mobile phone shipments in the first half of 2020 is not more than half, but from the second half of the year, 5G mobile phone shipments began to stabilize at more than 60%, and climbed to about 80% in 2021.
If in 2020, because 5G has just emerged, many people still have concerns, then in 2021, with the popularization of infrastructure and the improvement of mobile phone performance, 5G mobile phones have begun to be accepted by more people. The data shows that in 2021, a total of 483 new models were listed, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year, of which 227 5G mobile phones, an increase of 0.9% year-on-year, accounting for 47% of the number of new models listed in mobile phones in the same period, and the price of some 5G mobile phones also fell below 1,000 yuan.
That is to say, in the absence of a significant change in the number of new models and the number of 5G models, the increase in the proportion of 5G mobile phone shipments shows that the public's confidence in 5G mobile phones has increased.
The data of the Institute of Information and Communications Technology also revealed that as of the end of November 2021, among the mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications companies, the number of 5G mobile terminal connections reached 497 million, a net increase of 298 million from the end of the previous year.
It is worth mentioning that in the whole year of 2021, the shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones totaled 304 million units, an increase of 12.6% year-on-year, accounting for 86.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; the total number of listed new models was 438, an increase of 6.3% year-on-year, accounting for 90.7% of the number of new mobile phone models listed in the same period.
In 2020 and 2021, the proportion of domestic brand mobile phone shipments reached a peak in June, 95% and 96% respectively.
