You Dingyi, commissioner of the Shanghai District of the Kuomintang Central Command, Chen Weiru, chief of the Operations Unit, and Liu Huai, chief of the Shanghai Police Department, led more than 300 special military policemen, divided into more than a dozen cars and trucks, and together with the emergency patrol team of the Ministry of Works and Bureau of the Concession, conducted a large-scale search and arrest of the CPC's special branch red team.
At 9:00 a.m., the captain of the red team, Kwong Hui'an, armed with an oil umbrella, went out of Xiafei Road's home and found two strong plainclothes men stalking, and immediately flew forward.
At the intersection, 2 agents suddenly rushed out, blocking the way, Kwong Hui'an punched and kicked, broke free and ran away. Not far away, 2 more French patrols intercepted them, and you Ding's first-class agents also chased after them from behind. More than a dozen people rushed up and pushed Kwong Hui'an to the ground.
Zhao Xuan, Meng Huating, Zhu Jinming, Hu Lingwu, Chen Jieming, Tang Wanxuan, Liu Jinmei and 34 other members of the red team were also arrested at their respective footholds.
The entire Teko Red Team was swept away by the enemy, and none of them were spared.
The Special Branch Red Brigade, also known as the "Dog Fighting Team", is a political defense team of our Party, whose main duties are to protect the safety of the central organs, rescue comrades, and eliminate traitors and enemies.
The team members are divided into several groups, which do not connect with each other, and the team leader and the teams are contacted. Members do not call anyone by name, they all use aliases and change them from time to time. The team members rented a house through two landlords, and each place was changed to a name.
Kwong Hui'an, formerly known as Gong Changrong, born in 1903, a native of Xinhui, Guangdong, known as "Old Guangdong", joined the provincial and Hong Kong strike in 1925 and joined the Communist Party of China in the same year. He was a wing chun master, the captain of the Guangzhou Uprising Death Squad, and the commander of the Red 4th Division, and organized the Gaozhou Mutiny.
In October 1930, he was ordered to come to Shanghai and serve as the captain of the Central Special Branch Red Team.
In January 1933, Kwong Hui'an took over as the chief of the central special section and the captain of the red team.
Kwong Hui'an is meticulous in thinking, extremely well-thought-out in action design, and extremely bold, and the artist is bold.
Under the rampant search and arrest of the Kuomintang, he decided to retaliate with tit-for-tat and take the initiative to attack. In urban areas, railway stations, hospitals, hotels and other public places, continuous action was taken to suppress traitors and leaders of Kuomintang agents.
Shi Jimei, who served as the governor of Shanghai district in 1932, arrested a large number of CCP personnel, such as Chen Duxiu, Chen Geng, Ding Ling, liao Chengzhi and so on. He is very harmful, but his whereabouts are uncertain and difficult to get started.
On the evening of June 14, 1933, Shi Jimei came out eating flower wine in a small garden in Shanghai and was shot seven times in a row by Kwong Hui'an and others who were ambushed at the door.
On the evening of August 25, 1933, Kwong Hui'an and others shot wang Yonghua and his bodyguard Qin Rongqin, who had just taken over as the governor of Shanghai, at the New New Hotel in The Garden Lane.
On September 15, 1934, at the Day Jinli Hotel in the British Concession, the red team intern fired three shots at the traitor Huang Guohua in a row, but due to excessive nervousness, he did not hit the key point. Huang Guohua was injured and luckily did not die, and was sent to Renji Hospital, where three police detectives were sent every day to guard day and night.
On September 26, Kwong Hui'an led three team members to Renji Hospital and first controlled the doorman and telephone room. Kwong Led another team member to the second floor of the hospital, shot and killed Huang Guohua and 2 detectives, and then quickly withdrew, the whole process took less than 5 minutes.
During the four years that Kwong Hui'an served as the leader of the red team, the Shanghai underground organization of the COMMUNIST Party was destroyed six times, and nearly 1,000 underground party members were arrested. The enemy, however, only knew about the "old Guangdong" and his people, and knew nothing about Kwong Hui'an's real name, identity, and appearance. The red team has acted more than 100 times and has not been exposed. As a result, traitors and spies are all in danger, going out to do activities, always suspicious of gods and ghosts, afraid of running into the red team.
Why was such a well-organized and well-behaved team taken by the enemy?
This is related to the fact that Kwong Hui'an has taken the initiative to attack too much in violation of the principle of concealed and lean secret work; it is also related to Xu Enzeng, the head of the central command secret service, and the traitor Zhang Asi.
Xu En graduated from the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in his early years and later studied in the United States. He is deeply hidden, thoughtful, and understands psychology.
After returning to China, under the strong persuasion of his cousins Chen Guofu and Chen Lifu, he joined the CC Department and became the head of the "Central Unification" secret service.
Xu En once wrote in his memoirs: "This series of casualties caused me uneasiness. In particular, the last two cases (namely, Shi Jimei and Wang Yonghua) directly killed the general responsible persons we sent, and the locations and times they chose were carefully calculated and arranged, making it difficult for people to be wary. ”
Xu En, who had thought deeply behind closed doors, had figured out a set of "induction", "cell" and "reverse alternating tracking" tactics for the characteristics of the Special Branch Red Team.
"Reformation" means reusing traitors and using traitors against the red team.
The "cell" is to "reform" the underground PARTY members who secretly surrendered and arrested them, and then inserted themselves into the underground party organization as an undercover agent.
"Reverse alternate tracking" means that multiple agents alternately track one person in turn, so that the other party is not easy to detect and get rid of. Then identify their accomplices and go up the ladder until they are in charge.
Zhang Assi, who was originally an underground traffic officer under the Shanghai West District Committee of the COMMUNIST Party of China, secretly surrendered himself to the Central Unification In 1933 and was released back to become an undercover agent who had infiltrated the underground party organization, and was contacted by Su Chengde, director of the Shanghai West Sub-district of the Central Unification And a traitor to the CCP.
In October 1934, Su Chengde was under the North Cement Bridge on Mintenin Road (now Xizang Road) and Zhang Asi, who had not seen each other for more than a month.
Su Chengde asked him why he didn't get in touch on time. Zhang Asi said that he was transferred to a remote place to practice marksmanship and could not come out.
Su Chengde was familiar with the red team procedure, and he realized that Zhang Asi was about to be absorbed by the red team and become an intern, so he arranged for agents to set up a fruit stall diagonally opposite his residence; a day later, he rented a house next to him and opened a shoemaker shop.
By tracking Down Zhao Xuan, a member of the Red Team who was in contact with Zhang Asi, and then stalking him step by step, the enemy found all the places where the Red Team members had stayed, as well as the residence of Captain Kwong Hui'an, the second floor of the Fengxiang Silver Building on the Julaida Road in the French Concession.
You Dingyi, the commissioner of the Central Command, said in the report: "We have fully understood the content of the red team, it has a total of 35 people, including our camouflage personnel. ”
On April 13, 1935, Kwong Hui'an, Zhao Xuan, Meng Huating, Zhu Jinming, and others were hanged by the enemy at the Military Justice Department of the Nanjing Gendarmerie Command, the first and last time that a Kuomintang court sentenced them to hanging.
At this point, the Special Branch Red Team no longer existed, and all the surviving Special Branch personnel withdrew from Shanghai and transferred to the Central Soviet Area and Tianjin and other places.
The legend of the central special branch and the red team has come to an end.
