Zhao Shiyan, one of the founders of the Communist Party of China, was an outstanding revolutionary, but he died at the age of 27 and did not see this new China.
At the last moments of his life, the agents searched 40,000 oceans from his home, looked at the food on the table, and immediately arrested him and killed him later.
Young and hot-blooded
Zhao Shiyan is a native of Chongqing and a chinese character. His father saw the critical situation of the country and the nation and placed high hopes on his son, hoping that he would be able to serve the motherland in the future.
Zhao Shiyan also did not live up to his father's expectations, he had excellent academic performance, and at the same time with the heart of saving the country, when he was studying in Longtan Town Primary School, he cut his braids under the inspiration of his brother, and at the same time led his classmates to cut braids and throw shrouds, and after graduating from primary school, in 1915, he was admitted to the Beijing Higher Normal School Attached Middle School.
At that time, the new cultural movement was in full swing, and Zhao Shiyan recognized this progressive idea very much, so he joined Li Dazhao and others in the movement. Inspired by the New Youth, he participated in the editing of progressive publications such as "Civilian Weekly", "Teenagers" semi-monthly magazine and "Work-Reading" semi-monthly magazine, publicizing anti-imperialist and anti-feudal ideas and breaking the spiritual shackles of the Chinese people.
He once wrote an article in the semi-monthly magazine "Work-study" sponsored by him, expressing his views on the fate of new China through discussions with friends, and he believed that only socialism could save China, because socialism was a social system that was "the fairest, the most equal, no warlords, chaebols, no racial boundaries, no borders, economically good, especially morally".
Because of Zhao Shiyan's series of outstanding performances, he joined the Chinese Juvenile Society through the introduction of Li Dazhao in 1919, actively engaged in the May Fourth patriotic movement, and because of his efforts, he was elected as the secretary general of the student union by the students of the Affiliated Middle School of Normal University, and organized patriotic movements many times to integrate the patriotic forces inside and outside the school.
Revolutionary struggle
In 1920, Zhao Shiyan ended his study in China, and like many aspiring young people at that time, he chose to study abroad, and he went to France to study hard, trying to absorb knowledge and exercise himself.
In 1921, Zhao Shiyan, together with Zhang Shenfu and Zhou Enlai, founded the early prototype of the Communist Party of China, officially became a member of the Communist Party of China, and then he participated in the establishment of the Communist Group in Europe, serving as the first secretary of the General Branch of the Communist Party of China in Europe, and the following year, the Young Communist Party of China was also established.
In 1923, Zhao Shiyan went to the Soviet Union to study at the invitation of the Comintern and attended the Fifth Congress of the Comintern, and later the Communist Party of China began to grow, and he also returned to China at the invitation of Li Dazhao to organize workers' strikes in Tianjin and Beijing to fight for their legitimate rights and interests.
In 1926, Zhao Shiyan attended the Third National Labor Congress, and he advocated studying, inheriting, and carrying forward the May Thirtieth spirit, uniting as one, and standing on the revolutionary united front.
In May of the same year, Chiang Kai-shek smeared and vilified the Communist Party at the Second Session of the Kuomintang, trying to cause the people to resist the Communist Party and prevent the spread of communism by distorting facts and false rumors.
At that time, the counter-revolutionary coup had not yet been launched, but Zhao Shiyan knew that the wind and rain were coming, and he published an article in the weekly newspaper "Guide" warning the broad masses of revolutionaries: "If a counter-revolutionary wants to kill the Communist Party, revolutionaries must have a clear understanding of the situation. ”
Zhao Shiyan also organized the third Shanghai armed uprising side by side with Chen Duxiu, Zhou Enlai, and others, leading the fight against the reactionary warlords and driving them out of Shanghai, which greatly encouraged the revolutionary contingents in other regions and also facilitated our follow-up revolutionary work.
Zhao Shiyan was so good that his light was naturally seen by everyone.
In May 1927, Zhao Shiyan attended the Fifth National Congress of the Communist Party of China and was successfully elected as a member of the Communist Party of China because of the unanimous support of everyone. After returning to Shanghai, Zhao Shiyan continued to lead the revolutionary work, and during his tenure as editor-in-chief of Political Life, he tried to promote Marxism in articles, awakening many people.
Last minute
In 1927, the Kuomintang reactionaries launched the April 12 counter-revolutionary coup d'état, which wantonly arrested and killed communists, and many comrades lost their lives.
Because the provincial party secretary was arrested and defected, Zhao Shiyan's information was leaked, and the Kuomintang targeted him. On July 2, The Kuomintang troops began to arrest Zhao Shiyan, and they came to Zhao Shiyan's residence and began a search.
After the search, they found forty thousand pieces of ocean, which were funds for revolutionary work temporarily kept by Zhao Shiyan, who happened to be away from home, only his wife and mother-in-law, and when Zhao Shiyan returned, these Kuomintang agents took it down.
Zhao Shiyan's mother-in-law saw this situation and tried her best to break free of control, and pushed the flowerpot on the balcony down before Zhao Shiyan entered the door, hoping to warn him and let him know that the situation was not good.
Unfortunately, it was a rainstorm that day, the rain was very loud, and the sound of the flowerpot falling to the ground did not make Zhao Shiyan notice, he pushed the door in, and was immediately arrested.
The agent questioned him about the huge amount of money, and Zhao Shiyan did not hesitate to say that he was a businessman, and it was normal to have this money in the business, and the agent was also persuaded to decide to leave.
But before leaving, an agent glanced at the dining table, which was filled with leftovers, and could be seen to be very rough. Guarding a huge amount of money but eating chaff and throat vegetables, this is by no means a businessman's move, the money does not seem to be his, and then changed his face and arrested Zhao Shiyan.
Zhao Shiyan was imprisoned, and the enemy used all kinds of inhumane torture against him, but nothing could destroy his iron will, he gritted his teeth, vowed not to leak intelligence, and continued to propagate communism in prison.
Our party went all out to rescue Zhao Shiyan and even offered to redeem him with 100,000 oceans, but the Kuomintang knew of Zhao Shiyan's influence and would never let go.
In the early morning of July 19, 1927, Zhao Shiyan died heroically, shouting before his death: Long live the Communist Party!
