Some people may say that the children are innocent, or some people may say that this is the enemy, and the Japanese army has also killed our children.
But historically, this difficult choice was truly laid before our Chinese soldiers.
One night in August 1940, our army and the Japanese had just engaged in a fierce battle, and our army occupied the Japanese positions. While clearing the battlefield, three soldiers of our army found two little girls in the corpses of the enemy, one looking 4 or 5 years old, and the other was not even 1 year old, just a baby.
The three soldiers took the girls back to the headquarters of the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region, and after Nie Rongzhen knew about it, he personally took care of the two children, spoon by spoon, and asked the troops to go down to the nearby village to find women with milk to feed the baby.
Nie Rongzhen also told the soldiers: "We must not harm the Japanese people and their descendants, who are also victims of the war." For the sake of the two children, Nie Rongzhen decided to send them back to Japan. To this end, Nie Rongzhen entrusted a fellow villager to carry two girls to the area controlled by the Japanese army in Shijiazhuang with a flat shoulder and hand them over to the Japanese army.
General Nie was worried that the children were hungry on the road, and he also put several pears in the bamboo basket, and also put a handwritten letter, in which he said that our army "the spirit of internationalism is the most benevolent and righteous ... We must fight to the end against the Savage Sun Lord. I hope that the Jun and others will suddenly awaken and join forces with the Chinese soldiers and people to seek liberation..."
Later, after receiving the two little girls, the Japanese army wrote a reply letter to Commander Nie to express their gratitude. But unfortunately, the baby still died of illness in Shimen Hospital in Shijiazhuang and could not return to Japan.
After 40 years, this incident has made waves again. Nie Rongzhen has been thinking about these two children in his later years, and on May 29, 1980, the People's Liberation Army Daily and the People's Daily published Yao Yuanfang's article "Japanese Little Girl, Where Are You?" and a group of photos of "Marshal Nie Rongzhen and the Little Girl of Japan" make this past public.
The next day, a number of Japanese newspapers reported the news, causing a sensation in Japan. After many searches, the Japanese reporter finally found the girl in Miyazaki Prefecture - Mihoko, who was already a mother of three children at this time.
Knowing that her savior missed herself, on July 14, 1980, Mihoko and her family, accompanied by the Japanese ambassador, met Nie Rongzhen, the savior who saved her more than 40 years ago, and since then, Mihoko has visited Nie Shuai in Beijing six times.
When the Japanese army invaded our country, it rushed to burn and kill, and did nothing wrong, but Nie Rongzhen rescued the children of the enemy army in the rubble of the war, Nie Shuai's broad mind and humanitarianism were admirable, and the brilliance of this human nature could shock people through decades.
