Born in an artistic family, Qu Baolai was influenced by the family atmosphere and was very interested in painting since childhood. In the first year of the resumption of the college entrance examination, Qu Baolai was admitted to the American School, and later was admitted to the Shandong Provincial Academy of Arts with the first place in Shandong. After graduation, he temporarily gave up painting for various reasons, and although his pen stopped, his enthusiasm for painting in his heart was not reduced by half a point.
The brush was put on for more than ten years, and one day, he couldn't bear it, resolutely resigned, and re-entered the painting industry he loved.
Qu Baolai's creation is mainly based on landscape painting, because he has too much attachment and love for his hometown of Qingdao, so his "protagonist" is basically an element of Qingdao.
In Qu Bao's view, Qingdao's mountains, rivers, seas, customs, buildings, etc. are particularly suitable for painting, each season, every weather, different times of the day and even different moods, the observed Qingdao is different, so over the years, he has been painting Qingdao.
"Like Qingdao's terrain is very distinctive, undulating, musical and rhythmic, as well as Laoshan, the sea, fishing boats, docks, villages, red tiles, etc., Qingdao can be painted into the painting of too many elements, I can not paint enough, can not finish the painting."
The mottled walls of old buildings, the old roads that have been washed away by the years... In Qu Bao's view, these elements are the history and memory of Qingdao, and he will use his brush to express their weathered sense of vicissitudes and history, so as to express his emotions.
With the increase of age and experience, coupled with the continuous "docking" with ancient and modern Chinese and foreign artists over the years, Qu Baolai has gradually formed a set of his own expression methods, and his Qingdao has a distinct personal imprint.
"The wind blows from the sea, overlooking Qingdao, it is like a layer of tulle, there is a hazy beauty, I have been thinking about how to express this sense of air, and slowly formed the current style." 」
Qu Baolai's works focus on atmosphere and feeling, revealing a sense of air and heaviness, and the style is more inclined to imagery expressionism, and what he hopes to bring to the audience is not only a static landscape, but also a life.
"There are 10,000 Hamlets in 10,000 audiences, and different people will have different feelings when they see the same work, and I hope that the audience can find a new perspective and discover some new stories through my depiction of Qingdao's landscape, coupled with my own understanding of Qingdao and my own accumulation."

He was selected for the 13th National Fine Arts Exhibition
There is a saying called "search for Qifeng to play a draft", Qu Baolai has been walking on the road in order to paint Qingdao well. In order to paint the trees of Laoshan Mountain, he went to Laoshan Mountain five times and took tens of thousands of photos, just to find the "feeling" he wanted. But when he creates, he never presupposes what the final result will look like, he will only have a general outline in his mind, "If you know the result before you write, it is difficult to innovate." Qu Baolai explained.
"You never know where and what perspective you can see in Qingdao, so to this day I am still willing to ride my bicycle around the streets of Qingdao, hoping to discover some scenes and things that have not been discovered."
