
Real Salt Lake City officially announced the signing of forward Axel Kay from his own academy, who became the youngest signing player in major league soccer at the age of 14 years and 15 days, 153 days before Freddie Addu held the record for 18 years, and the two sides signed a two-year contract.
Last summer, Kay led the U15 to the Next Cup Tournament for the first time, scoring five goals in five games and being awarded the Golden Boot. He has since jumped to U17, scoring six goals in six games.

Prior to coming to Royal Salt Lake City, Kay played for three years for the Los Angeles Galaxy's San Diego Youth Team. Born in Côte d'Ivoire and raised in Brazil to a local professional athlete, Kay's father moved to San Diego, California in 2017.
