On January 15, the high-definition video screening season for the 400th anniversary of Molière's birth was launched in Beijing. In the next year, the four plays that are being staged in France, "Miserly Ghost", "Hypocrite" and "Haters of the World", will be screened simultaneously in the form of high-definition images in theaters in Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Guangzhou and other places.
2022 is the 400th anniversary of the birth of Molière, the famous French playwright and founder of classical comedy in the 17th century, and the French Comedie academy has formed a commemorative performance season with a series of masterpieces such as "Moaning Without Illness", "Miserly Ghost", "Hypocrite" and "Haters". With the support of the French Embassy in China, the "New Live" screening brand of Beijing Ogilvy Cultural Communication Co., Ltd. introduced high-definition live images of these masterpieces to China, and took this opportunity to carry out various forms of cultural exchanges such as lectures and script workshops.
Of these four works, "The Hypocrite" and "The Miser" are all newly rearranged works for the 400th birthday. The Hypocrite is directed by the famous European director Ivo van Hove, who runs the Amsterdam Theatre Company in the Netherlands, who specializes in pioneering and subversive contemporary adaptations of the classic, this time returning to the original version of The Hypocrite, which was only performed once on the day of its premiere in 1664, while The Miser is a work that combines genre comedy and character comedy, and Lilo Bauer, the female director of "True and False Peach Blossom" by the playwright George Fedow, has handled such a story delicately and playfully "The Haters" is a 2017 version of director Clement Elviyu-Leger's recapitulation, which is more critical of the hypocrisy and intrigue of high society, and the premiere of this commemorative season, "Moaning Without Illness", is Molière's last work and one of his most wonderful satirical comedies, and Claude Stratz's rehearsed version has been staged more than 500 times, and the discussion of disease and medicine will arouse people's thinking today.
At the launching ceremony, Tan Kaili, cultural commissioner of the Pop Music and Film and Television Department of the French Embassy in China, said in her speech that Molière occupies a very important position in the history of European theater. In the past two years, the world epidemic has been repeated, and there are only a few new works on the theatrical stage, and the French Comedie Has returned to the classics with the commemoration of Molière's birth, which is worth excavating the practical significance of it and exploring the common values of mankind. In the context of the world epidemic, the form of drama and video has created an excellent opportunity for cultural exchanges between the two countries to enhance mutual understanding.
