On the occasion of President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to France, CGTN, China Central Radio and Television and Chinese University of China, through the New Era Institute of International Communication, released a questionnaire survey to 1,513 French respondents, showing that 80.2% of respondents believe that China is an influential power, and 70.3% of respondents say that China is a successful country.

In this regard, 86.2% of the respondents pointed out that Chinese companies have a huge influence in the international market, 66.2% of the respondents believe that China's business environment is quite attractive to investors, 56.7% of the respondents believe that China is very important to the stability of the global industrial and supply chains, 58.8% of the respondents believe that China's huge market provides vast development opportunities for French companies, and 65.8% of the respondents aged 18 to 24 are happy to see that France is actively participating in China-promoted international cooperation projects.

Two "Unique" Models of Great Powers, Mutually Beneficial Cooperation Will Be "Promising"

"The unique history of Sino-French relations has shaped the unique 'Sino-French spirit'", President Xi Jinping summed up Sino-French relations with two "unique" at the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. French President Emmanuel Macron even used "we have a lot to do together" to evaluate the importance of Sino-French relations. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a major country with a tradition of independence, China's diplomatic philosophy is well shared by French respondents. In the survey, 76.7 percent of the respondents believed that China is a strategically independent power and highly affirmed China's independent foreign policy, while 75.3 percent of the respondents aged 18 to 24 said that China is a responsible major country and expect China to play a greater role in the process of global governance.

In the survey, 71.7 percent of the respondents believed that Sino-French relations are one of the most important bilateral relations in the world; 61.6 percent of the respondents were optimistic about the future development of Sino-French relations and looked forward to further strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology; and 65.1 percent of the respondents believed that close cooperation between China and France in international affairs is conducive to promoting world peace and development.

The European Parliament has positioned China as a "competitor" and "institutional rival" of the EU, and French respondents were not impressed. In the survey, only 18.5% of respondents believe that the differences between China and France outweigh the common interests, and the proportion of respondents who believe that "common interests outweigh differences" between China and France is as much as twice as high as "differences outweigh common interests".

In recent years, the people-to-people exchanges between China and France are gradually moving from "lively" to "hot". In the survey, 82.4% of the respondents have been exposed to Chinese cultural products to varying degrees, and more than ninety percent of respondents aged 18 to 34 have been exposed to Chinese cultural products. In addition, 62.7% of French respondents are looking forward to traveling to China, with natural scenery (69%), Chinese cuisine (63.1%) and history and culture (61.6%) being the "check-in items" that respondents are most interested in.

The questionnaire is designed according to the age distribution of the French census, and the content of the questionnaire includes the overall perception of China's national image, the concrete perception of China's national policy, the perception of Sino-French relations, and the cognition of China-EU relations.
