Reason for recommendation: This exhibition is the second phase of the Exhibition of Paintings from the Past Dynasties collected by the Guangzhou Museum of Art. "Characters" continues the curatorial concept of this exhibition of paintings from the past dynasties of the academy, with the purpose of "combing the collection, excavating the collection, and making preparations for the development of the new museum". This exhibition, like the "Landscape Chapter", in addition to presenting some of the treasures of the town hall that the audience is familiar with, also tries to excavate some fresh faces that are not often exhibited and are not familiar to the audience from the rich paintings of the courtyard collection, and selects the best works of the character paintings in the courtyard collection for display.

The exhibition lasts for 3 months, exhibiting more than 100 fine pieces of historical figure paintings collected by the Guangzhou Museum of Art, about 60% of which are national first- and second-class cultural relics, including the yuan dynasty anonymity "Four Spirited Women", the Ming Dynasty Chen Hongshou, Zhang Feng, the Qing Dynasty Hua Kun, Huang Shen, Su Liupeng, Fei Danxu, Su Renshan, Jiang Lian, Ren Xiong, Ren Xuan, Ren Yi and other painters. The exhibition classifies the types of character themes in the works, which are divided into four parts, the first part is Shi Dao and Xian Buddha, the second part is the female, baby drama, and Tian family, the third part is the court, indoctrination, and gushi, and the fourth part is the nobleman, the literati, and the xianyi.
