Tan Yanmin was an official of the Qing government, a family of scholars, and had been reading poetry since childhood. So he gradually leaned towards advanced revolutionary ideas, and by chance, he met Sun Yat-sen, and under his influence Tan Yanmin gradually moved towards the revolutionary cause and became one of the founders of the early Kuomintang. But in the later part of revolutionary history, his name never appeared again, why?
According to his qualifications, comparable to Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Chiang Kai-shek had not yet emerged at that time, why did he eventually disappear into revolutionary history? And this is his cleverness, because he did not think of fighting for power and profit at the beginning, whether it was the country or the beauty in front of him, he was not moved, but pursued his pure revolutionary ideals. When Chiang Kai-shek was about to attack him, he also knew how to protect himself and slowly withdrew from the stage of the revolution, avoiding becoming the target of careerists.
Dr. Sun Yat-sen was very fond of this knowledgeable, cultured, and like-minded revolutionary comrade, and it was rare to have such a sober-minded talent in the corrupt Qing government, and his political acumen was very high enough to be worthy of a great responsibility. At first, Sun Yat-sen also intended to make Tan Yanmin the principal of the Whampoa Military Academy, because he had been engaged in the work of organizing the school and had done a very good job. However, I did not expect that Tan Yankai thought that he had shirked this appointment this time, and the reason given was that he was not good at literature and martial arts, and how important the military academy was, it must not be messed up in his hands, which made Chiang Kai-shek pick up a leak. At that time, Chiang Kai-shek was just a small person around Tan Yanmin, and if it were not for Tan Yanmin pushing him behind him and making him the principal of the Whampoa Military Academy, Presumably there would be no ambitionist later.
And Chiang Kai-shek's benefits from Tan Yanmin's side are not only this, his wife Soong Meiling was also introduced to him by Tan Yanmin. It was more precise to give it to him, because originally Song Meiling was what Sun Yat-sen wanted to introduce to Tan Yanmin. Sun Yat-sen saw that he had lost his wife at an early age and felt that he had no one to take care of him, so he introduced his wife's sister to him, and their status was enough to match. But unexpectedly, Tan Yanmin once again rejected this kindness, because he did not like the idea of feudal three wives and four concubines, but was loyal to his dead wife, and vowed never to marry again in this life, and only wanted to raise his children well. In view of this affection for his wife, Sun Yat-sen was not good at forcibly matching them, and Tan Yanmin did not want to live up to Sun Yat-sen's kindness, so he introduced Soong Meiling to Chiang Kai-shek.
At that time, Chiang Kai-shek had not yet revealed any ambitions, and he was also a revolutionary general with ideals and ambitions, so he was deeply valued by Sun Yat-sen and Tan Yankai. Therefore, he was able to "pick up leaks" around Tan Yanmin again and again, and with the support of the Whampoa Military Academy and his wife Soong Mei-ling, Chiang Kai-shek's ambitions became more and more inflated. Unexpectedly, Chiang Kai-shek eventually betrayed the revolution and became the dictator who wanted to dominate China. And when Chiang Kai-shek continued to expand his power, Tan Yanmin knew that he had become a threat to him. So he has always maintained a close relationship with him, and he loves food and calligraphy every day, and lives a life of idle clouds and wild cranes, showing that he has no concern for power. Chiang Kai-shek had been by his side for many years and knew him as a person, so he began to let down his guard. Tan Yanmin thus survived the fierce struggle of the revolution and died in Nanjing in 1930.
