He competed in the Two Hills Round battle with outstanding success, was awarded major general at the age of 47, promoted to general at the age of 58, and died at the age of 69

Soldiers who do not want to be generals are not good soldiers, and I believe that every soldier who enlists in the army will have a dream of being a general in his heart. However, since New China began to implement the RANK system of the People's Liberation Army in 1955, the general who can be awarded the highest military rank of "general",

Including the founding generals, there are still less than 200 people, all of whom are the leaders of the army and the elite.

Among them, there was a general who only joined the army after the founding of the People's Republic of China, but his college culture made outstanding military achievements, and he served as the political commissar of the Jinan and Lanzhou Military Regions. He loved soldiers like sons, especially during the "Two Mountains Round War" against Vietnam, and his surprise attack and anti-rebellion tactics made great contributions to our army.

Only 58 years old, he was awarded the rank of general, and he was Liu Dongdong.

In the autumn of 1945, a boy fell to the ground on an ordinary farm in Huangpi County, Hubei Province, and his birth made the whole family very happy, because just two months ago, the Japanese army invaded China surrendered, and the 14-year War of Resistance finally ended! Without the disturbance of war, the people can work in agriculture and business, and live a stable life by their own efforts.

Parents with hope felt that the upcoming winter was full of hope, so they named the boy Liu Dongdong.

Unfortunately, it backfired, and shortly after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Nationalist government headed by Chiang Kai-shek tore up the peace agreement.

Determined to start a civil war, strife arose and the war of liberation began.

The War of Liberation lasted for 4 years, and although Liu Dongdong was still young, he already knew that he should hate the reactionaries who ruined the peaceful life of the people. In addition, the elders in his family often mentioned to him the heroic deeds of our Party and army during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

So he aspired to be a warrior from an early age, wanting to defeat the fierce enemy on the battlefield.

This opportunity came soon! After the founding of New China, our army won the victory in the War of Liberation, and after the founding of New China, a new era of peace enabled children like Liu Dongdong to grow up in stability and receive a good education.

In 1961, Liu Dongdong, who had grown into a big and small gang, could not wait to sign up for the army as soon as he heard the news of conscription

Realize his ambition to serve the country from the military!

At that time, he was not yet 16 years old, so he firmly put on his military uniform, away from his hometown and parents, and entered the Forty-seventh Army of the People's Liberation Army as a recruit egg.

The Forty-seventh Army has a long history, dating back to the original Independent 1st Division of the Red Army established in 1930, and was reorganized into the Army in 1948.

The special hero Zhang Guofu was born in the Forty-seventh Army.

Among the recruits in the same batch, Liu Dongdong was the most educated but the youngest, so he was assigned to be a hygienist. Although it was different from the original intention, he still actively completed all the work assigned by his superiors. His conscientious, responsible, down-to-earth attitude was all seen by the leaders of the troops, and after only two years,

He successfully joined the Communist Party of China in 1963.

In 1966, Liu Dongdong finally became a soldier, and he cherished this long-awaited opportunity, insisting on self-study while completing the training task excellently, and becoming a propaganda officer of the Political Department with his outstanding performance. In the decade from 1966 to 1976,

He successively took charge of propaganda work in the political departments at the regimental, division, and corps levels, and gradually grew into a cadre.

During the Sino-Vietnamese War in 1976, the leadership of our army exposed many problems, such as the aging of officers, the backward awareness of combat command, the poor linkage between upper and lower levels, etc., so many cadres were organized to send them for further training. The troops saw that Liu Dongdong had a high ideological consciousness.

He was listed as a key training object and let him enter the Platon Political College to complete the class study.

After graduating from the completion class, Liu Dongdong further strengthened his military quality and leadership ability, and in his work, he often took the initiative to go deep into the grassroots and did his best to solve difficulties for the soldiers.

Because of the nature of his work, Liu Dongdong has an extremely keen sense of the media, during the 1984-1989 two-mountain round war against Vietnam, he created a new type of military communication that can follow up the broadcast of the war situation in real time, and further promote the application of modern military construction in the actual combat of our army, which made Liu Dongdong promoted to the political commissar of the 139th Division in 1984.

At this time he was only 39 years old, becoming the youngest divisional officer in the regiment.

In 1985, the Forty-seventh Army was refined into a group army, and Liu Dongdong rushed to Laoshan, Yunnan with the army, and personally went to the front line of the two-mountain round battle.

As a political commissar, he often went to the front line to chat with the soldiers, from which he learned about their needs and difficulties. Before the 10.14 Blue Sword B operation pull-out mission, he learned through political work that many soldiers wanted to taste Maotai that they had never drunk before. In order to give the warriors a grand march, he bought all the Moutai he could purchase and toasted to the soldiers on the front line one by one at the oath ceremony.

This move greatly boosted the morale of our army, and coupled with the innovative new form of military communication led by Liu Dongdong, our army won a great victory in this fierce battle fought on the Laoshan front, and this battle also became the first real-time broadcast of modern warfare in the history of our army, which is of pioneering significance to the building of China's modern national defense forces.

In 1987, Liu Dongdong and Huang Junjie, commander of the Lanzhou Military Region, commanded the "Black Panther Operation" together, and pioneered the tactics of surprise attack and resistance, our army killed nearly 600 enemy troops and wounded nearly 500 enemy troops with 21 sacrificial combat strength, and achieved the final victory.

Because of his great contribution to the Battle of the Two Mountains, Liu Dongdong was promoted rapidly after returning to China, successively serving as the director of the Political Department of the Forty-seventh Army Corps and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Group Army, and in 1992, at the age of 47, he was awarded the title of major general, and seven years later he was promoted to lieutenant general.

In 2000, he became the political commissar and party secretary of the Lanzhou Military Region.

In October of the same year, he was transferred across the region to the political commissar of the Jinan Military Region. He worked hard and responsibly in his post, and was awarded the rank of general four years later. In 2004, at the age of 58, Liu Dongdong became the youngest general in the PLA at the time.

He led his troops to participate in Wenchuan disaster relief and flood prevention and rescue, and completed the task brilliantly every time.
