Down nearly 10% HDD hard drive Q4 shipped about 64 million units: Seagate first

Since the flood in Thailand in 2011, HDD hard disk shipments have been declining year by year, and now SSD hard disks have squeezed out the share of notebooks, desktops and servers, and the shipment of HDD hard disks in Q4 last year was about 64 million units, down nearly 10% year-on-year.

According to the data of the research agency Trendfocus, in the Q4 quarter of 2021, the global HDD hard disk shipments were between 63.4 million and 64.7 million units, a decrease of 2.3-4.3% compared with the Q3 quarter, and a decrease of 7.7%-9.5% compared with the Q4 quarter of 2020, and sales continued to decline.

At present, there are only three manufacturers in the HDD hard disk drive market, namely Seagate, WDC Western Digital and Toshiba, of which Seagate ranked first in the Q4 quarter, shipping 27.20-227.7 million HDD hard drives, with a share of about 42.8%-42.9%, and shipments fell by 7.1%-8.8% year-on-year.

WDC West shipped 23.5-24 million HDD hard drives in the Q4 quarter, down about 6.4%-8.3% year-on-year, with a market share of about 37.1%.

Toshiba ranked third, shipping 12.7-13 million HDD hard drives in the Q4 quarter, down 11.1%-13.2%, the most serious decline among the three manufacturers, and the share fell to about 20.0%-20.1%.
